Unfortunately I fear that we are currently in the latest round of "everything right of center is evil". A few facebook groups, hunting and sport shooting related for the Benelux, have started seeing much more messages getting removed/banned, and groups are being threathened of being shut down, due to non-compliance with Facebook rules. The next years it will only get worse...
I stopped worrying about that. I am not member on facebook, instagram and similar social networks.
But, when it happens that such networks ban some hunter or hunting and shooting organisation we all get surprised. Oh, how unfair! This is not right!
But all reality is - censorship is present, everywhere. You only need to see it, and look a bit deeper.
I see that you are fairly fresh and new memeber here, and I am on the forum, since 2016, and although still consider myself as newbie, I have seen also censorship here. I have seen it.
It happened to me, that few times I posted some articles from hunting magazines, and they were removed. (from hunting magazines, not from anti hunting media!!!)
On the other hand, some of the articles from other magazines are not removed and are frequently posted here.
And also I noted that some articles from same magazines like in my case are sometimes removed, and sometimes are not removed. SO,same magazine, different article is sometimes accepted and sometimes not. (it was hunting subjects, and not advertisments or similar)
Here. On this forum. So neither here, life isnt perfect.
Bottom line, there are reasons for this, and I am not surprised when I see censorship in non hunting politically correct media, as I can see it also in pro hunting internet media, and social networks.
Censorship and ban is only one of the media tools.
What has to be understood, and supported is following:
Internet space is privatised and paid for. By somebody.
Somebody is alwyas the owner of some web site, and he will follow some of his rules (cesnhorip and ban), or all of his rules, or will just do as he please as the righfull owner.
Fine.
Thats the fact of life.
But in such enviroment on world wide web, it is most improtant that we as hunters keep our presence on internet, have our own web sites (like this one), where we can articulate our case, and way of life, and ethics, and keep our ways of life presented and supported, AND LIVE!
And for myself, I do not mingle on facebook, and instagram with "politically correct, easily ofended people". So I dont think that facebook can kick me out anytime soon. Actually ,FB and isntagram can kiss my #$ss.
