My dad, brother, and I just returned from our safari in Botswana with Nkwe Safaris this past weekend. It was my brother and I’s 2nd trip tho Botswana and my dad’s first. The hunting trip was amazing, as can be expected when hunting with Nkwe Safaris, travel was not. My brother and I got our 74 year old father to Africa for the first time and he harvested two beautiful kudu bulls. We all collected some very nice trophies and experiences along the way.

I will provide a much more thorough write up to follow, but I wanted to highlight just a few things to start off. I got a cold from flying and it kind of kicked my ass a bit while hunting and my father over exerted himself, in the excitement of it all. He ended up not being able to hunt the last half of our trip. But this is what I want to bring up. Jaco and Irene Visser, along with Quentin Flattery, and Godfrey all took amazing care of us and did everything in their power, greatly exceeding the the level of care expected. They arranged for all our medical needs, including a trip to a private doctor in Botswana for a health check-up on my father and to make sure nothing major was wrong.

Overall it was a great trip, that did not go entirely to plan, due to travel issues and sickness, but what an amazing experience getting our father to Africa for the first time. More to follow…

Congratulations to you and your dad! It looks like a wonderful time, if not for the travel issues. Sorry to hear that you both felt under the weather! Looks like a good time was had despite that.

Glad you had a great hunt despite the medical issues, but these things happen, I broke two ribs in a hunt.

That gemsbok is amazing, never saw anything like it.

Cool gemsbuck. Looking forward to hearing more about your hunt. Congrats
Bruce

Fantastic gemsbok. I've seen a few oddballs. One with a horn that came downward alongside her front leg. Another with a huge blown-out base. Some sort of weird tumor or infection. The Africans I've met don't really care for the freaks, but I think they're pretty fun.

Too bad about being sick. I've dealt with that one one trip and it sucks a lot of the fun out of it. Sounds like you did a good job salvaging it.

Congrats on some nice animals. I hunted with NKWE in early June and had a great hunt. Jaco, Quentin and Irene are wonderful people, glad they were able to get you taken care of and hope you all got well. Look forward to hearing more about your actual hunt
