Bob Whelen 35 visits the Gulf of ‘Merica and other Gulf Coast adventures

Yes, he is quite pleased with himself on occasion

He graciously poured me a glass of my own whiskey. His “two finger pour” looked more like a fist o_O
A proper 2 finger pour is measured thusly. Being a man of great culture, Bob knows this

When is Bob going to be in Tennessee?

The last time I talked with him IIRC he mentioned the 26th Oct. I will confirm with him his expected ETA and post it.

Or perhaps @Bob Nelson 35Whelen will be gracious to post his itinerary though Tennessee here for those of us in the area can give him a proper Tennessee welcome........with possibly a bit of our well known moonshine.

I'm looking forward to meeting up with Bob and his bride as they pass through East Tennessee.

Perhaps something can be arranged for a get together of AH members here in East Tennessee along the Chattanooga - Bristol corridor to do a meet and greet with Bob.

If anyone is interested in this meet and greet send me a PM and we can coordinate something.
Hey RR! I'm in Knoxvlle and up for a meet!

Good of you to show Bob some local Tejas hospitality. Well done Sir!

Well, that's the face of someone who uses a 35 Whelen...

You should have convinced him,@Bob Nelson 35Whelen to stop using ineffecting kids cartridge and start using a propper one, like the supreme 338 win mag!!! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
It's actually the face of someone who eats Vegemite regularly;)

About a week back I first noticed Bob was coming to the United States for his first time and was going to be with Mark Biggerstaff not too far from my location. I threw out a casual invite for Bob and his bride to come down to visit with little expectation that he would take up the offer. Well he did :cool:.

I met Bob and his lovely wife Judy (ie maybe) Monday morning. We made a quick detour to Corpus Christi, had some lunch on the water, dipped our toes in the Gulf of America before heading to a local ranch for a sunset game drive. We were lucky in even this usually warn weather even for Texas thus time of year to see a few animals moving. We saw whitetail deer, rio grande turkeys, feral pigs, javelinas and well to my surprise an interest in our Armadillos :LOL:.

We capped off the evening with a steak, baked potato anf grilled asparagus.

Bib and Judy are always welcome back. And you too ManiView attachment 721447View attachment 721448View attachment 721449View attachment 721450View attachment 721451
@buck_ wild
Thanks for the kind invitation mate
Judy and I really enjoyed your company and the girls really hit it off. Seeing all that game was a delight but I won't tell anyone about your armadillo chase .suffice to say armadillo 1 v @ buck_ wild zip. We did have a good chuckle and you gave it a red hot try. Pity the cowboys aren't looking for a running back you would be in with a chance.
You and your lovely wife are beautiful people and are welcome at our home in Australia anytime.
The photos are great but the ugly big bastard in the blue sleeveless shirt ruins them. Should have left him out of them
Bob

Where else did they visit? would’ve loved to be able to meet them.
@Hunt anything
After Texas we went to Baton Rouge.
Today we came upto Chattanooga thru Louisiana, Mississippi, BAMA, Georgia and into Tennessee. Headed to Virginia tomorrow after a stop at the cracker barrel off exit 49 betwixt Chattanooga and Roanoke.

Almost forgot we saw the alligator AND Bob shot his FIRST suppressed large (ish) rifle !!

@buck wild
Those suppressed rifles were fun to shoot.
Dont know about biggish calibres. 270wsm and 300wsm don't really fall into the 35 class but man they were a hoot and I actually hit the target so not to bad for a bit from down under.

@VINOYASADO
Now that did put a smile on my face, pity y'all couldn't see it.
The only thing the 338 wimpchester is better than is the 243 and not by much.
The Whelen is for those that need a good medium bore, not a fire breathing sob that needs a belt on it to hold its pants up and been over hyped by gun writers.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
