Brother Hunters - I want to upgrade my synthetic stock, and purchase a high-grade woodstock. Just curious if anyone can share their experience doing this and working with Blaser and their retailers. I would like to select the wood, in person, but it seems that is not possible, and that I will have to work through a retailer. When I had my AyA built, I hired a fitter to measure me for the stock. The No. 2 round action is thus instinctively accurate. I’ve never upgraded wood on a rifle, and thus don’t know if it makes sense to also get measured. In essence, I’m a newbie on this process and much appreciate any advice on issues to consider, and so forth. Lastly, I am a left-handed shooter. Should any members have high-grade Blaser woodstocks for sale that might work. Also, curious if it is possible to have an independent stock maker create something for a Blaser, too. Thanks as always for sharing some wisdom.

Good morning. Retopping the forum lists in hopes of some feedback. Thank you

I would visit Top Gun and Top Dog, Hendershots, Euro Optics or anyone else in person and see what they had. Maybe something will work for you.

Blaser does not support custom fit stocks outside of Europe, or at least that is not advertised. Did you speak to Blaser USA yet?

Euro Optics appears to have a grade 7 thumbhole, a Barroness, and a few Luxus in stock. You should go there and see if any of them speak to you. I don't know where you live, but that might be an easier solution.

Any custom stockmaker worth their salt can build a stock for an R8 to fit you.

The work will be $4000-7000 plus the cost of wood.

I am pretty gay for Blaser, and I was just working on my roe deer set up for May. I don't know if I could get $10,000 in a wood stock.

Guns are tools to me. I appreciate the art and artistry, but in my world I'd rather spend the money on hunting.

I did buy an FBT Blaser stock, as I felt like the R8 needed to go on a weight loss program. So I am probably still in the Gay for Blaser, but more function than form.

Thanks Muskox. I did speak to Blaser at DSC, and I was referred to two of the large dealers/distributors. The challenge is buying wood without holding it, checking it out. I have a synthetic stock, and also think guns are tools, but I'm interested in this upgrade. Do you happen to know of any top-tier custom stockmakers? I'm new to this part of the sport/addiction.

I wouldn't know anyone for any rifle, let alone lone a Blaser.

For the cost of that level rifle stock, what's another $800-1200 for a trip to go look at it.

If you go to Blaserbuds, I am currently banned as he. doesn't like my overseas address. I posted about 80 links for Blaser things. Might be worth a look. Just. get into the site and search for links.

Thank you, Sir. I might be in Europe in April for roe. Have a good season. Appreciate your input and advice.

I was actually speaking about America.

You could send an email to Blaser in Isny and ask if you could go to their shop and pick a stock out. But they'd have to ship it back to Blaser USA for you. You couldn't take it with you, as you don't have a German hunting license and a firearm possession card.

There are dealers that have a lot of inventory here, but it is going to be almost all plastic stocks.

I don't know if it will let you on this page or not, because of your IP adress.

And I accept you!

Thanks. I've been all over the site. Really just trying to see if anyone has any experience with this. My only complaint about Blaser, and I love the rifle, is the difficulty of dealing directly with the company. With Beretta, for instance, I can go to the NYC gunroom and everything is easy. But other European makers are not so well represented. I suppose there is nothing wrong with a middleman. but principal to principal is preferred.

Is it that hard to say I want a grade nine left handed stock? Or are you looking for something even more custom than that?

I was struggling to find the right words until your post. Thank you thank you.

Greetings Brother Rimbaut. I have two R8s with wood stocks. One standard and the other build 6. Both are serial models not specially designed for me. I think that in Blaser custom you can complete your measure. It is certainly possible in the USA. You just have to wait for it to come from Germany. It may take some time. The price is probably extremely high. I think that the stock for the R8 can be made in the EU (I don't know about the USA) at a price of 1000 eu + wood. If you can find a piece of wood yourself and take the rifle away, that would be the best solution. Someone wrote that the price of making a stock is 7000 usd, that price is too high. We hunters are emotionally attached to weapons and will pay large sums of money for something we want, but that is already an insult to common sense. Only if your stock is made by an exceptional craftsman as a work of art, then I justify that price.

Sorry, I meant are you looking for a nicely grained factory Blaser stock, or a custom one off. If factory is the way you want to go, you should be able to call a Blaser dealer and order a stock, no fuss.

Make sure you try before you buy…. The ergonomics are different. The wood and synthetic stocks are shaped differently. I have a grade 7 stock that is beautiful but I prefer the ergonomics of the professional stock. So the nice grade 7 wood just sits in the safe, not because I’m afraid to scratch it up, just because I don’t like the ergonomics as much.

I also have a grade 7 success stock, which is shaped the same as the professional success and has the same ergonomics. That one does get used.

The wood k95 success feels amazing. The plastic k95 success is ok.

My r8 success feels good enough. the wood R8 success feels amazing.

I don't know why they feel so different.

When you see a Blaser on a driven hunt here or on a group hunt it is always a success or a professional. I have yet to see a wood stock.

Though we have absolute shit weather in Germany. Kind of like Seattle but a little farther north. We get more snow than Seattle.

Maybe that is why there is not any wood R8's in the hands of hunters.

It's such a shame Blazer is so difficult to deal with, as they have some of the most beautiful wood imaginable.

Find an offer in Turkey. There are people there who advertise the sale of stock wood. There are different levels. It will be much, much more cheaper for it to arrive at your home address

Super helpful. Thank you!

I would imagine it is one of two things.

Blaser USA is separate enough of a company from the home company that they have problems shifting things back and forth.

Any small gunshot in Germany can order one of these stocks to show their customer. So clearly it is on the Blaser USA side.

I will say they do prefer specialist dealers. This could be another issue. I don't live in the USA, so I am not going to spend a bunch of time calling individual dealers. Top Gun, Top Dog, Euro, Hendershots and so on.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
