Well I have crossed over to the dark side and bought a Blaser R8 in 30/06. I have found a Blaser transit case at a good price. Are they robust enough to survive the airport handler baggage toss or am I better going for a Pelican case and custom cut the foam?

While you might be able to get by with the Negrini case that comes with the rifle, the cost of a Blaser replacement is a lot more than the cost and peace of mind that comes with a semi-custom pelican. I use my Negrini for local travel only.

I have used my Nagrini case on 4 trips to Africa. Have never had a problem other than case for double rifle is so small baggage people do not realize it is a rifle case

Not sending a Negrini thru luggage and expecting to get all of the rifle back.

But, Americase used to make an aluminum case the negrini will fit in. Serves as a tough outer shell.

I've owned 3 Pelican cases for Blaser our Blaser R8's. The Negrini case is NOT up to the abuse that's put out by baggage handlers.

I'm currently using a case from GunFoam.com that I had custom foam made for. It's similar in size to the Pelican 1720. Here is a thread and I hope it helps you out.

I've just ordered another foam insert for the same case that will be for just my rifle. Should be here in a month or so. I'll take a picture of the final product when it arrives, this is just the computer rendering.

Thanks guys you have answered my question. I will get an appropriately sized Pelicase.
No point having two to clutter the place up!!

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
