Blaser S2 470NE Safari Double Rifle

If I was still looking for a 470, I would seriously consider this right handed action and add a nice custom fitted buttstock for 2-3 grand…coming in well below average for a custom fitted 470.

And if you cut the price in half, consider it sold to me…but it’s worth the 10k for sure!
You will pay 2-3 grand for a really nice blank, let alone the work which would cost at LEAST 5 grand for the but stock alone, never mind making a foregrip

A good blank is $1800, a great one is $3000. You’ll pay $4000 in labor to make a stock. A gun is worth 20% less after restocking regardless of what gun. Lastly, Blasers are excellent quality guns, they may have bent the triggers, tang, and bottom metal lefty. If you’re moving metal around or building new, you could spend many thousands of dollars.

The cheapest path with the best outcome is to find a new old stock righty S2 stock, not impossible to accomplish.

My lefty had no lefty parts (trigger, tang, metal, backwards top lever etc)… the stock was straight… only lefty attributes where cheek rest on the wrong side and palm swell dito. Cheek rest has been removed and a slight adjustment to the grip/palm swell… “total cost” of going from left to right on my gun was like $30 bucks worth of sandpaper and oil and a nice bottle of wine to the guy I borrowed the checkering tool from

Regarding “new old stock”… Blaser wants 8 grand for a replacement stock for S2… not the cheapest way…

This is great advice to get this nice gun sold. Also, there was a guy that was a Blaser liquidator on GB, I think he was Maddog guns or something like that. I’d figure out who that blaser parts guy is and contact him, he at one time had righty stocks and additional caliber barrels for the S2. Someone might strike gold.

So the only thing lefty is the cheek piece and palm swell?

Does the stock have cast for a left hander as well or is it neutral or straight?

I can only vouch for my specific S2… only thing lefty on it was/is the stock.

Mine is straight with no cast… the Seller of the rifle in the thread will have to state what is valid for his

If @The Shootist doesn't take it at $5k, I will.

I could offer you weapons in trade for the rifle - gladly.

Blaser is one of the few gunmakers that still supports lefties...I have a full LH Blaser F3 shotgun that I love. Timing for me is worst time in years or I would be all over this and I am in the same city. GLWS...somebody is going to get an amazing deal.

I have gotten a few PM from people wanting to know if my LH 470NE is Neutral cast. Let me answer it for anyone interested. It is straight with no cast (Neutral) . The only thing Lefty is the Cheek Piece & Palm Swell.

What about the triggers?

I called Blaser, the only difference in this gun and the right hand version is the butt stock.

Everything else is identical to the right hand version.

It may help if you showed similar views show the palm swell and how the triggers are offset or in Line

In my experience choosing an 8 grade blank complete with finished work my total cost was right at $3,000 in GA

Are you saying that a high grade blank PLUS the work would be around $3,000?

I am disappointed, to me the most important feature of a left-handed rifle is the lefty articulation of the triggers.

I think it’s a plus to be the same gun as the right hand version.

JJ Perodeau told me that he could remove the cheek piece and make it right or left hand gun.

He said he could add a little cast in any direction you needed if you wanted him to fit the gun to you. Or leave it neutral as is.
