Black Rhino Hunt Fall Out

I saw elsewhere someone post that if they (the greenies) were serious about that individual Rhino, they could have bought the hunt and then had it relocated to some kind of retirement location.

Of course talk is cheap and the expensive option (ie they pay for what they want) doesn't seem paliatable to these extremists.

Freedom of speech is just as important as any other freedom people want to enjoy. If you ban one, you ban them all.

Talk is cheap, even death threats. ponying up for your cause and beliefs however...
If every whack job threw in a dollar they could have bought that rhino and found a home for him. That's way too much to ask when bitching and whining is free.

Although I'm sure some bids were held back due to the protest and back lash, I feel we are giving these fools too much credit. It is my understanding that there was no guarantee that the animal could be imported to the US, some bidders may have balked at that. It may look like on the surface the protest were effective but I think the lack of a promise to get it to the US was more effective.

As a former LEO I will tell you this, the threats should be addressed and the people posting the threats should be prosecuted for assault.

As far and the Black Rhino (or any of the Big 5) then, let's say the Hippo and Hyena as well. Here is my suggested scenario: Take 200 of these anti's over to Africa, drop them off "with video recording devises" (because I want to watch), and see who can get the most hug's from these cute and dosile lovely pets. They have 2 hrs to complete this competition, winner win's. Everyone on this forum knows it would be like watching deathrace 2014. Idiots, all of them...

And if the antis had bought the rights to hunt the rhino and then announced the animal would not be hunted, would there have been any hunters threatening to kill them and their children? Of course not.

Funny how one side is not taken serious ?

Been off the forum for a while. See quite a bit has happened here!

I did however follow the whole DSC auction and it baffles me how antis could be so ignorant. Then I stumbled on this article from savetherhino (who I thought - at first - were also ignorant on how to go about this). I was quite surprised at how the article tackles the real issues on how hunting has not decreased but actually increased the population, the money, anti poaching etc.

And all I say is if the antis loved the rhino that much, they should have bunched 500 000 people each donating a dollar (because that seems to be their limit anyway...) and purchased the rhino. No hunter would have had a complaint, money has been raised and that is the true issue at heart.

Dr Ian Player supported hunting of rhinos as an important conservation tool - I just use that card and most antis are shocked that their rhino hero actually supported hunting...

Blessings to all and a happy year of hunting!

Great read and very well written. I would love to see that article posted somewhere here for easy reference when members need it, the fact that it is on a conservation website dedicated not to hunting but simply the greater good of Rhinos in general is perfect.

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
