Hello all, well I’m excited to say we do have more fantastic Bison hunt opportunities for this winter/spring.
I have 3 hunts available
2- meat bison hunts
1-trophy bison

Meat Bison
The two bulls I have available weigh approximately 800 lbs. they are 2 years old and you can expect a lot of good healthy bison meat. They have very pretty skins and make fantastic flat skins and euro mounts.

Trophy Bison (For those who follow us, no it isn’t Geronimo)
I have 1 big, approximately 2,000 lb bison bull available. He is about 7 years old. He will still eat well and it’s an impressive amount of meat. No other way to put it, he’s huge. He’d make a fantastic mount and has big heavy horns with no breaks at the current time.

All hunts are all inclusive, they include guides, meals, lodging, adult beverages in moderation, trophy fees, skinning, quartering, trophy prep, and all amenities the Rockin G has to offer.

Not included- taxidermy, meat processing, Texas hunting license, pre/post trip expenses, tips, usual stuff.

Price: Meat bulls $3750 all in
Trophy bull $$6500
Deposit is 50%. Hunt can be done any time in the 20/21 season HOWEVER deposits need to be in within the next couple of weeks. These hunts book super fast. I have a lot of requests for this and they are limited availability. As always I give AH’rs first chance then I will go to the request list.

Good deal on the meat!

And I immediately thought of Geronimo. LOL

how big is Geronimo???

Big, at one point he weighed a touch over 2,600lbs. Fighting other bulls and breeding cows he's lost weight over the last few years. He'd weight probably 2k or 2100 now. Its not about the size with him. He's the only animal on the ranch that is "special" and isn't for sale. He will die of old age or until he needs to be put down due to old age. If it's the latter, he will be full body mounted and have a place of honor in one of the lodges.

Erik, we may need to talk since I am coming up for the other hunt already.

FULL,FOREVER,MORTALITY!!!RIGHT ON.

Eric- On a meat hunt how many pounds of meat will you go home with... around 250lbs? Also could this hunt be done with a bow? Thank you for the info!

I would be all over this if I didnt still have a ton of bison meat in my freezer!

Gizmo,
Sounds like fun. I want to do a big bull bison hunt soon. Probably in the next year with the rifle I will take to South Africa, i.e. a warm up hunt. Enjoy the hunt Mark!

Somewhere between 350 and 450. I’m not a meat processor by any stretch of the imagination but.... that seems to be what feedback I’ve been getting over the years.
On the bow, I am an avid archer and love to archery hunt. On big animals such as this I have several stipulations that as long as they are agreed to I do allow it. Much has to do with what setup and broadheads (absolutely no mechanical of any kind). Also the safety end of things must be clearly understood and agreed upon. These aren’t Cape buffalo by any stretch of the imagination but..... they can be incredibly dangerous when spooked or wounded.

How many days of hunting is included? Is it a legit hunting experience?
Yes. As with any hunt it can work out relatively smoothly or can be extremely challenging. We’ve had 9 AH’rs hunt bison with us, 1 trophy bull and 8 meat bulls. Of those 9 hunts 1 went very smooth. Bison were relaxed and we had a good Avenue to stalk. We got in to around 100 yards and was able to make the shot before the herd broke and ran. Took us a bit to find it as it was hit a bit far back, took 2 more rounds to end it.
There was another that took only about 2 miles of tracking and stalking successfully tagging out. The rest of the hunts varied from that one all the way to a 3 day track/stalk event that was successful at the absolute last second.
@Seavas has hunted bison last season with us and he has commented on this thread. He may jump in and share his experience.

Trophy Bull and 1 meat Bison have been sold. I have 1 serious inquiry on the remaining meat bison but no actual commitment on it as of now.
