Binocular recommendation

For those that like Steiner… if you have a guidefitter account they offer about 40% off msrp on Steiner products there… and occasionally run sales and discount some of their products even further..

Well it’s about your eyes and feel of bino
I have Mavens Leica Zeiss and vortex razor.
Vortex best balance. Maven best glass zeiss rugged and leica cause it’s a range finder. Throw them up first somewhere before buying

Leica Trinovid HD....

FYI - If you are not in a hurry to buy, then I would hold off and watch the classifieds on this forum.

I missed out on a pair of Swarovski that sold for 50% of new purchase price; I ended up buying my Leicas off of Ebay from a bird watcher who bought them for a particular trip and then sold them.
I'm going for the bino/rangefinder combo Geovid 10x40. But no matter your final decision, buy during the Black Friday sales. They're the best sales of the year.

For Africa I think a set of the 7x Binos is perfect. I use my 10x42 Swaros but have been tempted to get something a little smaller and lighter.
Thats what I ended up buying 7X21, to my novice eye it was more than enough for me. I thought should I need more power I will borrow my Ph's.

Newest model Zeus’s with range finder around $3000.

Zeiss SFL 10x40 Should go for about $1000
Construction/Build Quality: 8/10
Optical Quality: 9/10
Brightness: 9/10
Resolution: 9/10
Edge-Edge: 9/10
CA Control: 9/10
Light Reflections: 9/10
Focus Wheel: 10/10
Eyecups: 8/10
Physical Size: 9/10
Weight: 10/10
Value: 5/10

Let's get the obvious out of the way. Compact, lightweight and similar to the Conquest HD line in terms of styling and form/function. Eyecups (I believe) are the same. Armor feels the same. (The SFL version seem to pick up more fingerprints however.) The objectives are 2mm smaller but it's virtually impossible to see that difference. The Diopter control feels similar.

So overall I think you are on the right track with your choice.

Zeiss victory rangefinding binoculars = $2599.00 on sale at Midway USA. Excellent optics with great ergonomics.

Check these out....I don't like big binos ...they are pretty compact and light...and work very well...

Thanks, for the recommendation. I’ve been eyeing a used set of now discontinued SLC 8x30’s. Looking for something with a little less magnification that’s light weight for use in thicker brush when hunting dangerous game like elephant and buffalo.

I’ve also considered the EL Range 8x32’s but at least in the EL Range glass was SLC glass with a higher than EL price tag for the rangefinder.

You might think about the under arm carry like most African PH’s use or one of the Rick Young Bino Harnessez. I believe that’s what @Philip Glass prefers.

Hi just realised I wasn't paying attention when I googled the binos , and was in hurry posting...I meant these ones which actually are the ones I use...even more compact but work great...what I use on hunts here and if go away...total brain fade :X3::E Big Grin:

Was hunting last week with a guide that had some sig sauer with a motion stabilizer. It was a game changer! I don’t know the cost and was not able to test the glass really early or late but when I did use them, the stabilizer was awesome. Maybe worth looking into

I am thrilled with the new Swaro 10x32 EL Range binos! 10x is not needed for Africa as @Mtn_Infantry states. I really think these are the best for Africa and what I’ve been waiting for now for many years.
The Ultra light bino harness from Rick Young is great.
