Big Bore Addiction Group

Well, it was time this thread got brought back up to the top.

I done gone and did it again...so I am here to confess.

I just bought 250 new cases for a caliber that I do not yet load for...and may never (the rifles so chambered are few and far between)!

But I would like to...and the price was such that I could not pass them up!

Drum roll................450 Dakota!

250 new cases for $275. Smoking deal. How could I say no?

I knew you all would understand.

:)

At that price if you’ve even a slight intention of one day having a .450 Rigby you’d be a fool to pass it up. Heck, should you change your mind and decide against the big Rigby it’d be pretty easy to list the same and get your money back (and then some).

She said something about putting it towards paying off the house.

Pffffft!

That’s one hell of a price for a Dakota so adorned. Consider it an investment (because it ain’t going to lose any value, not so much as a nickel, and will rather go up in value...my opinion).

Better start offloading all the other stuff now.. make a list of the stuff you want to sell..LOL.

No kidding!

I just bought a Lott from CTD...only have about 75 rounds through it! It would be seriously redundant with a 450 in the house.

PRICE HAS BEEN REDUCED!!! Did you tell your wife that???? I bet you a dollar that she's bought stuff just because it was on sale!!! Don't let her bully you around. Be strong!

Hummmm I have lott brass and no lott

The lott brass is left over from a old rifle I had that a buddy talked me out of. I should just put in the pay-it-forward option, as I will most always hunt DG with a double and if I use a bolt gun it will most likely be the 404 Jeff I am currently building. But somebody has to stir the pot a tad bit:A Stirring:

Well, I am ready to buy this....just waiting for my wife to say yes!

You should have seen the look on her face when I said "You won't really divorce me after 38 years, just over a rifle"?
That is truly a gorgeous rifle! With a serial number like that how can you possibly say no?! And if I recall correctly you recently bought the wife a new tractor, right? Seems like you still have some catching up to do ;) And now that I have joined the ranks of Marr in the eyes of your bride... :E Sad:

I have Lott brass and no Lott. 458 Win Mag brass and no Win Mag. 500 Jeffrey dies and bullets, and no Jeffrey.

Your doing it backwards

I think there are meetings one can attend for this sickness.

nice to see posts on this old thread and that 450 Dakota is one nice looking rifle! buy it along with a good set of groveling knee pads and with any luck you will come out married with a nice rifle.

i chose to stay single in life... i refuse to ask any one permission to buy guns.

This damn Africa Hunting club is causing me all kinds of problems. I started reading it and the next thing I knew I was booking a safari. Fine, I thought. I'll go once. No such luck. I read all sorts of Cape Buffalo stories here and got an awful itch. Everyone here said, "Oh, you can't hunt buf without a shoulder fired cannon". Soo I had to get a boomer. Started with a Win Safari Express in 375HH. All well and good I thought--at the time. I got my buf but then got hooked on the idea of a "real classic African caliber." Now I have this almost insufferable urge to acquire a MRC in 404 Jeff, of which I have been enamored for some time. I find myself going to Africa Hunting just to pull up the photo of MRC's African rifle and stare at it. Do I have an addiction to bigger bores? Do I need some kind of therapy? What are my chances of survival of this affliction?

Sure there is a cure! Buy a 404 and a 458 and call me in the morning!

Sold my Kimber 308 yesterday. Got a good price for it.....

Internal thoughts..

Sako 450 Rigby now???
Or.....Sako 9.3x62???
Say what? Sell the Marlin 45/70 and buy another safe to put the 2 new Sakos in?
Sounds reasonable.....
Oh wait.....remember that New Haven Winchester 70 in 458WM you were looking at yesterday? Seems like a good deal....Has the old style trigger too....
Hmmm....(sips beer)...
I wonder if I should consolidate some less expensive rifles and get one really nice rifle? Maybe a Heym Martini in 404....
Yea that sounds really nice! Oh wait....that stock is way too nice to scratch up in the back of the safari truck.
Guess I could have McMillan make a spare stock for it.....
But then.....which rifle will you take to Africa this year? You know your other rifles will get jealous, right?

Hmmmm..... (takes shot of bourbon)....

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
