Any recommendations on brand, style, etc. Thanks

Rayban double gradient aviators.

Purchase at a eye doctor, get fitted. Wear for at least a month before your trip.

I have a pair of polarized, prescription sunglasses that replicate my regular eyeglasses prescription, including progressive bifocals. They are the same frames as well. I probably use them more for fly fishing than hunting though.

Oakley seem to make eye protection for all situations.
I wear Flak Jackets with the XLJ lens which offers more glass coverage in your peripheral vision.
They are lightweight, comfortable and grip to your head and bridge of your nose even when you sweat.
Look at the brand and find a style that suits you and your needs.

Costa del mars with different lenses for conditions. I like the amber for ground based hunting and flats fishing with green and blue better For deep water fishing and bird hunting.

Lol, I only wear them when I need to. In bright African sun, I can't see. But only use them when necessary. You would still want them in Africa for riding around, etc. as well.

Maui Jim aviators.

I use my Rudy Project Rydons. Nice wrap-around shape and lens options for any situation. They also offer an insert for optical lenses behind the coloured lenses, but I prefer to pair them with contacts. They are my go-to shooting/motorcycling/hiking glasses.

+1 on the Costa Del Mar’s. They can be ordered with a choice of glass or plastic lenses. The glass lenses are as scratch resistant as I have found. You can also order them with prescription lenses.

Having read articles/stories of guys getting an eye poked by a bush, I started wearing my Smith polarized fishing glasses with readers. They have already saved my eyes a couple of times from acacia thorns. Riding in a bakkie focused on trying to spot tracks I have been attacked by man eating acacias:eek:!

Interestingly this is the only picture I can find of me actually wearing sunglasses, but honestly I wear them most of the time.

What, no endorsement for "Combat Vision"?

No sunglasses when hunting.
I use Ray Ban's for driving and i use good quality polarized glasses for fishing, but i find that out of all the different glasses, types, lenses etc i prefer none of them when hunting.
I find that spotting animals in cover easier without glasses and gauging distance without glasses more accurate.
I also dont wear sunglasses when playing golf for that reason, especially when i need to know it is exactly 124.5mts to the hole...;)
I dont mind sunglasses when bird shooting, but its not a necessity.

It also adds another item to carry around and look after or drop in the grass etc. I dont wear glasses normally, so for those that do this is less of an issue.
If i could count the number of sunglasses i have donated to rivers and lakes from having them on top of my hat and then attempting to swat away a tsetse fly or such...:LOL:

I would strongly encourage glasses anytime shooting a shotgun. You would not believe how pellets can ricochet. I was shooting skeet with friends. We got to station 7 and one of my friends stepped up to shoot. When he shots the low house one of his pellets ricocheted off the target and hit me in the forearm hard enough to break the skin. We couldn’t believe it. Can you imagine if that hit someone in the eye?!?

That pellet had to come almost straight back on impact. We were all wearing glasses.

I just Randolph frames and I have a progressive lenses from my Ophthalmologist. I always wear glasses when I shoot, with the progressive lenses, I never have to worry about changing glasses.
