Best recoil pad?

I put a Kick Eez sporting clays model pad on my Merkel double 450-400 rifle and also on my Sako AIV Safari .375. I couldn't be happier. Their soft material is the most effective at reducing felt recoil of any pads i've tried, ( including Pachmayr and Limbsaver ) and the "sporting clays" angled cut at the heel of the pad makes mounting without catching clothing smooth and trouble free. I also prefer the plain black colour to the red of "traditional" pads. The pad does not look as traditional but it works better.

Thank you. I will have to look at them since previously only read about Kick-Eez.

I use Decelerators on my 7mag and 375 HH with good luck. On the range I back them up with a Past Recoil Shield. Of course in the field I don't notice recoil. Too busy concentrating on shot placement.

I had a Kick Eez installed on a shotgun I only use for snow geese, I sho0t 7, 3 1/2 mags in about 3 seconds when things really get going. It is really improves the comfort level.

My experience is the same. I was at the range this morning and shot my newly aquired .460 Weatherby Magnum. I loaded 260 CEB to 3,300-3,400 fps. I had not shot one in over 35 years. It was a safe queen til today. No Accubrake, just the old Pendleton. I also wore the Past Shield. I was amazed, my 8-9 lb. .375 has kicked me harder. Granted, years ago I shot the 2,700 fps 500 gr. factory soft points and they were brutal. I KNOW this load is very shootable. This is the Euromark model, don't know what pad, pretty certain it's not a Decelerator.
Experiment, live and learn !

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
