Best bolt action .22lr?

The Bergaras are excellent also. If you can find one, the old Kimbers were wonderful, in a league of their own.

I have a tikka t1x and love it, have been shooting it in .22lr silhouette and using for squirrel and rabbit hunting, there are a lot of higher end .22’s out there, but I have been really happy with the tikka

cheap and accurate for hunting, the savage model 93. I've killed handful of hogs from tree stand with one in 22mag and countless squirrels with 22lr. Plus i dont mind using it to clear brush as i walk.

Vudoo and CZ seem to dominate PRS competition, and the Bergaras are oft seen as well. Anschutz owned smallbore for decades, but now have PRS chassis. For hunting models CZ, Bergara, and Tikka are great choices. All are capable of 300 yd competition accuracy.

Possibly more important is testing ammo to see what works the best, and then purchasing by lot.

Seems like it may matter what price point and purpose is most important for you needs.

What is your opinion on the best, most accurate bolt action .22lr out there?
There is not many that occupy my attention:
Anschutz
CZ
Tikka

I regularly shoot a pre '64 69A Winchester, they came with grooved and non-grooved receivers, mine is grooved to allow the use of rimfire rings. I also shoot a Winchester 52B Sporter that was made in Japan by Miroku in the early 90's. They are both very accurate after finding what ammo they like.

Tikka. I have one in 17 and it’s a shooter. Loves every type of ammo I’ve fed it.

Had a bergara carbon in 22wmr and it was one of the worst rifles I’ve owned. Tried probably 8 different brands/weights of ammo and couldn’t find anything that it liked.

I’ve had them all & hard to go passed a Brno or CZ for pricing, build quality, solid mags & accuracy !

I have Brno Model 1 - 2 - 5 & CZ452/453 22LR 22mag & 17HMR

Still have a few Annie’s & just sold my awesome KID 10/22 which is arguably one of the best Semi autos but lots of money here & still have several Ruger 10/22s

The Tikka T1X is a Man sized solid performer also !

My experience is with a Ruger 77-22 Magnum, 18.5 inch RS model, not a 22LR. Rifle built in 1999.
My rifle, purchased NIB, at a small gunship in 2004 shoots excellent accuracy out to 75 yards, my self imposed range for rimfires.
Scoped with an IOR Valdada straight 4x, it is the most accurate rifle I own.
I bought a Clark Custom 20” heavy barrel, but I just can’t bring myself to change out that factory barrel.
It’s boring accurate in field use.
Squirrels at 50 yards are in danger for a head shot.
Couple of coyotes didn’t like it either.

I bought my Tixxa T1X strictly for the range - to rotate with the centerfires for practice from the sticks. Like it a lot with moderately priced Federal Auto Match.

For precision, I've seen a Vudoo, with premium match ammo, do amazing things at 325 yards.

One of the better 22 match shooters at my range - retired and not with unlimited funds - shoots a CZ (with Fed Auto Match).

This certainly is not going to be the most accurate rifle but I give this Ruger 77/22 my vote as a great production rifle that feels like a centerfire in your hands.

I use it for off hand practice to ready myself for big game hunting season.
I've also taken my fair share of squirrels, rabbits, fox and birds with it.

(Top rifle in picture is the 77/22 with a Leupold 4x rimfire scope. The bottom rifle is a Ruger Compact 7mm0-08).

Thus far I’ve had great experiences with CZ’s .22lr line - the 452s, 453s, and 455s.

My sister calls this little CZ Scout “Jack’s squirrel assault rifle.”

For my own knowledge when people talk about accuracy expectations with a 22lr what does that mean? I always associate a 25 yard sight in with 22s and a 100 yard sight in with center fire but I see people talk about 100 and 200 yards with 22s here from time to time?

100% agree.
I have a Win Miroku 52B sporter with a Leupold 4X 22 scope w/IIRC 60yd parallax zero. The combination is extremely accurate. That model was chambered with the target throat where the shank of the bullet, just behind the ogive, engraves into the leade upon chambering. That ensures perfect alignment of bullet to bore when fired. Mine likes both the Lapua Multi Match red box and the Eley Match black box. Slight edge to the Eley.
