Balanced Approach - Africa Potential Regrets

Balance in so important in all aspects of a person’s life. I’ve been able to strike a good balance with the support of my family, especially my wife. I’ve invested for retirement since I was 18 (now 51) and am getting pretty close to my goals there. I’ve been investing in 529 plans for both my daughters since they were born. My 23 y/o graduates with her Master’s Degree on December 13th this year and then gets married December 28th. She will have a graduate degree at 23 with absolutely no debt. She already has a job lined up in her field and will start off making $70k a year. My 18 year old will start college in Jan and I’ve have enough in her 529 to cover what ever she decides to pursue.

I am able to save enough to pay for 1-2 “big” hunts a year now. There were several years when my girls were in middle and high school I did not pay for anything hunting related as we felt it was more important for them to go to a private Christian school, the tuition I paid all those years is some of the best money I’ve ever spent and I would not trade my girls’ time in private school for any hunt in the world.

As has been mentioned in this thread and previous ones, it’s all about what is most important to a person and making choices. I make the choices that take care of my family and once I’ve meet my responsibilities there the rest is just about what I can do to go on the next “hunt of a lifetime”, not what truck I drive, the latest gadgets, etc…
