Backpack sling?

I Probably should have explained what I was looking for and why, a little better.

I'm looking for a sling for an 8-bore double rifle. This rifle weighs in around 16.5lb and the only way I can see myself carrying it for any real length of time is on my back with two slings (like a backpack).

The backpack and rifle carrier combo is neat but would likely not work for this rifle.

I was just about to ask what kind of artillery you are carrying that requires TWO straps. 16.5 lbs is no joke for even a short walk.

This looks sweet. I don't have a problem with my sling when I'm going in light. But i was coming out with a load of elk meat last Sunday and had my rifle slip off my shoulder and bounce off the bushes. I was exhausted and didn't even know it was slipping.
Yeah, that's what horses are for. LOL

These guns suck to carry! But when you pull the trigger, you appreciate every extra ounce!

Sounds good, PM sent.

I looked at these but didn't see them in stock anywhere (didn't look too hard)

This was plan B. :)

.

I’ve seen the Niggeloh at Amazon. They make the Leica binocular strap and scope covers. Quality products.

I’ve never used a backpack with a gun sleeve in it, how easy is it to get your rifle out of it in a pinch? If it takes more than a couple of seconds it doesn’t seem wise to carry that way in dangerous game country.
The Vorn pack releases the rifle with a simple pull. It is very, very quick to deploy. I like it for North America hunting.
I don’t think I would use it in Africa (I didn’t even take it last summer) And I definitely wouldn’t use it for a DG hunt.

For a 16.5 lb double, I like the idea of a backpack sling too, definitely not a backpack.

I’d also consider a golf caddy push/pull cart. And bring wheel chocks for the recoil.

I don't have horses but fortunately got a text out to my son while coming out with the first load. He got there and saved me and got the rest out in another 4 hours while I watched the kids. Lol
His first text back to me was not congratulations or anything nice like that. Just a simple... well f***

This looks interesting. I may get one to make climbing into the deer stand safer and easier. Fell off the ladder last year. As if that wasn’t enough my doctors and Mama verbally slayed me.

I’ve always left the rifle (unloaded) at the bottom of the tree with a tag line on it, climbed up and got myself all set. Then pulled the tag line with the rifle. It’s how I was taught to be a as safe as possible.

Do you climb up with it on your rifle slung?

No. I set the rifle on the deck and then climb up. The taller stands all have stairs and handrail(s). I sling my rifle on those.

I’ve tried them all and this is the best. The rubbery texture resists slipping. And can pull other band over your neck and wear as backpack. I love them.

Very similar to the Slogan Outdoors slings. Very functional and very well made.

My wife carries one, but she calls it something different.

I prefer a regular backpack; don't care for the way a single sling cuts into my neck/trap.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
