We have officially arrived in Darwin and are about to start a double Water Buffalo/Bantang Bull hunt with Greg Pennicott Safaris.
Will keep you all posted on the hunts as they unfold.

Excellent, are you hunting on Mary River Station out from Pine Creek, I used to work on there back in the day ?

The Rusa rut should/could be starting if you hear a few drawn out moans or roars, ask about a Rusa Stag !

I hate to break it to you, that ain’t Darwin.

So we got to camp which has all the basics but not lavish by any means. My wife and I have a comfortable room with a dedicated bathroom/shower tent a few feet away. We each shoot our provided rifles for the hunt with my wife using a 300 win mag and myself using a 375 H&H.
Greg asks us if we want to take a quick tour as it’s past 5 PM and off we go. It doesn’t take long to see several younger male water buffalo that just need a few more years and lots of cow calf groups. Lots of photos to follow but wifi is slow.

Got after a good Banteng Bull this afternoon but kept giving us the slip. Hinting os done via CamAm quad is basically driving roads and then spot a stalk
As we were heading back this bull came out and my wife decided to pass. Probably going to regret it.

@Sarg
The drawn out moans and roars will be @Hunting Hitman complaining about the heat.

Not too bad this time of year, just nice I think & might even need a jacket in an open vehicle in the mornings !
@Sarge
I was up there this time last year and it was 39 degrees Celsius at Katherine. So not to cool morning was 25 degrees Celsius

Sorry was having trouble posting from camp but now we are traveling back and have time to complete the report.
The first 2 days were spent touring the property and looking for Banteng as they were switched on once being spotted and would constantly walk away from us into brush. The afternoon of day 3 we are coming around a bend and spot a group on Banteng with 2 bulls among them.
My wife the “Lady Hunter” was up and we began to try and get into position with the herd moving away and into brush. We decided to try and circle around and let them feed towards us but they kept going away from us. Eventually we came around a grove of trees and the bigger of the 2 bulls was looking straight at us. Up came the rifle and she waited for the bull to go broadside.
She was using a Weatherby 300 Win Mag with 200 grain TSX and settled on the front shoulder. She shoots and the bull breaks left but stumbling badly. She follows up with an insurance shot and drops the bull…more to follow.
