ARGENTINA: Epic Argentina Hunt

Oh he's cool...old man buff. Love it. No problem posting here. We are talking about buff and I wanted to see yours. Nicely done. Those axis are beautiful in the sunlight. I don't want to take one in TX...only in Argentina, India, Bangladesh...someplace like that.

I was also surprised to see that many mature blackbuck were brown not black. For some reason, I thought the males were all black as they matured.

We came across him accidentally earlier in the hunt. Every muscle on him tensed when he heard the “click” of my phone camera. We left the area immediately.

Hah...that's great. What a nice photo and would you agree with me that in the tight brush, that is actually a very open long shot for that kind of terrain? I had places where I couldn't see my own boots.

Yes, it makes you very careful and aware of your surroundings and the noise / smells/ etc. You are definitely on high alert when going into that kind of cover, especially knowing what is in there. They had a very difficult time getting a vehicle / tractor in there for recovery. Did you have an opportunity to go night hunting for Viscachas? they are a cool animal, similar to a grumpy rabbit.

Congratulations on hunting in my country. Remember, guns here cost twice as much as in the US.
While I’ve never been to Argentina I understand what hunters in other countries go through with licenses as well as ammo cost and availability.

However I think that would be all the more reason an outfitter with that quality of game should do as @Green Chile said and invest in quality working rifles with good optics.

I would offer thought on future hunts in far away places, those of us who travel with our rifles; if we should see that camp rifles are in the same caliber as you are carrying. Then consider leaving some ammo behind as a good will gesture to future hunters in camp.

Yea, it was the densest hunting I have done for DG including the thick jesse in Zim.

I did not do any night hunting unfortunately. I did see what looked like jack rabbits. Also, did you see how big those foxes are? They looked like coyotes in body size. I've never seen a fox that big and there were lots of them. They even stalked a blackbuck in front of one of the hunters. We thought we were seeing coyotes but the lead guide said there are no coyotes there...further north they have them.

I was able to take one as well as a fox. I don’t believe they are exportable. The camp staff was happy to have it for a meal. It tasted a bit like rabbit as well.

I don't have any fox photos but maybe you do? The ones we saw were shockingly large. Guys wouldn't believe it without photos.

This is the best photo I have with the fox. We only saw them at night. Took them both with a ruger 10/22. Just like at home.

As another note, regarding another thread about Argentinian trophy shipments, I was notified this week my trophies will be stateside in a couple weeks. so less than a year

I had a pair of foxes cross 50 yards in front of me. The male was stunning. The next meal I asked the head guide about it and he said they are free so shoot them all. Mouths dropped open around the table and guys said they are free?!? I could have shot one!

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
