Are The Wildcat's Dead

Very true. That’s why I use the same cases in the same rifle and neck size only as much as I can. As long as the cases stay the same length and/or trimmed a little to size, I should be able to extend the life of the cases a little?

@CoElkHunter
If you aneal the neck and shoulders properly you can extend them even further.

BTW, there’s a rifle for sale on GB in .375-.350 Remington Magnum. I’m not looking to buy it, but it’s an interesting wildcat and it comes with the dies. FYI.
@CoElkHunter
Mate the case capacity is pert near identical to the to the 375 Whelen AI and I bet the 375/350 mag is on a short action. So the 375 Whelen trumps it with the longer bullets. So you would get a short action 375 that C ant handle longer bullets ,what's the point.
Just go with a 375 Ruger in A standard length action and be done with it.

I beg to differ on your 264/300 WSM it was created by me as the 6.5/300 WSM. LOL in all seriousness the minute a new case comes out people like you and I will do all kinds of things to it to make it our own. Have fun Wildcatting
@Spooksar
We have a gun writer in Australia called Nick Harvey, he necked down the WSM cartridge to 25 cal and said it was a very temperamental cartridge to load due to pressure spikes. Why didn't you just neck down the 7mm WSM or neck up the 270 WSM I thought that would be easier. Out here in OZ it has also been played with with the 35 Sambar and a great 416 v version.

I've never heard of you and only know two other in America that pretty much did it at the same time. c. 2006 here (as that's when I made the cartridge, ordered the reamer and rifle-delivered in '07.) Independently, with no knowledge or assist by anyone else. It just made sense...Actually, I named mine a different handle from what SAAMI would prefer, so you technically have "your" innovation too. :p 'Have another in the works...

Yeah, i had a .350 Rem (it barely cut the mustard w/ the .358 bullets. 'Only going to get worse with the larger .375s.) Case capacity is similar/slightly higher than an 06 in a short action, but long bullets def eat up powder space (i.e. anything larger than 200 in .358.) Also high pressure, so it wallops the shoulder in a compact rig. A 375 HH is the way to go. Quite pleasant to shoot. Perhaps over-capacity a tad, as you don't need DG bullets going 2,600+ fps.

Your right. I’d be much more interested in a .375-.338 Win Mag, since I have lots of .338 cases. I know a .375 Ruger would suffice, but it’s not a wildcat, so what’s the fun in that! Ha! Ha!

IF the really light .375 bullets (235-260 gr) are shorter than .35s (i didn't check,) it'll perform well with those! Although, I could get high 2,900s fps w/ the .350/200 gr. IF you can get 2350-2450 out of it with good quality 270s-300s, it WILL work! Do you have any data on the cartridge? I can find some later...

Interesting let us know how it works. I did mine about the same time frame, but I live in Canada.

Bob I did make a 9.3/300WSM, I thought of the Sambar but wanted to be different.

@C.W. Richter
You can get those sort of speeds out of the 35 Whelen and 275grain woodleigh PPSP.

A simple process and easily done. I anneal every 5th reloading and have had some cases last 20 + firings and on lower pressure cast loads a great deal more than that.
Nice! Are you annealing the entire case or just the forward part of the case? AND, are those photos in the background Triumph or BSA bikes? Thanks!

The .450 Watt Magnum happens to technically be the most popular wildcat calibre in the entire world ; given how Jack Lott basically re-named it as the “ .458 Lott “ and made it one of the most commercially successful .450 bores to date ( in a bolt action rifle ) .

Just the neck of the case with these being straight walled cases but to the cas shoulder Junction on bottle necked cases. BSA I had a few and built a custom on a 67 Spitfire motor.

I have a 338-06 and a 6.5-06. Also a 25-06 Neider before Remington made a honest woman of it. Also 280 Rem 7mm08 358 Norma which were all wildcats before becoming commercial cartridges.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
