Any .577 NE rifles in use out there?

Here is a couple pictures of my 577.

I believe Hamilton Bowen only made 2 3/4” rifles so that the recoil wouldn’t be so nasty. SSK have made a decent amount of full 3” Nitro Ruger #1’s and some 600JDJ’s, 577 opened up for .620 bullets. I have heard of receivers cracking but can’t confirm if it’s happened. If everything goes right, the middle of next month I’ll be using my Hollis 577-100-750 for Cape Buffalo, used to be owned and used by Tony Sanchez Arino for years. Using 750 Woodleigh Solids and RE 15 with Dacron.

I would love to see photos of Tony’s gun. What’s the story on acquiring it? That gun could tell some stories for sure!

I have 100 new PPU .375 H&H brass in my stash that is reserved for future hunting loads. In my experience with other calibers like .308 it beats the common USA made Rem / Win / Fed brass for uniformity, brass quality and durability. I just opened a new bag of Remington .375 brass this morning. And was disappointed once again. Banged up necks, uneven mouth, and two pieces had wrinkles in the neck.

Another fellow here, I think @Excessexpress has a .577 nitro Ruger No1.
Good way to get one imo
‘Tis not I who possesses such a beast, though I have missed out on a couple of doubles in auctions. One very nice St Etienne built underlever hammer gun in .577 2 3/4 in particular….. but I digress, I own no 577. For now….

I have a really nice cased Army/Navy 577 BPE double but I have not hunted with it yet. Every time I pick it up, I think of how it's built like a bulldog...chunky, short and powerful. It has a nice balance to it all.

The bottom rifle is my Lyon & Lyon .577 3" BPE, made year 1900 and regulated for the heavy 167-650 grain load..

You need to send it to me, and I'll hunt with it for you.......at no charge.

I've thought about selling it but it sits in the corner quietly watching.

I wonder if you could do a 577 on the tc encore. The biggest I have on one is 458 Lott.
MGM Barrels said it was not a good idea, barrel is too small a diameter for the potential pressure , they said. However I think that it has been done but I can't remember who did it.
The shooter had to be prudent with his pressures.

I wish that some company would make a classy single shot like the Encore or CVA or the Ruger #1 that is "bigger" and could handle good loads in the 577NE, 550 Magnum, 600 NE etc. with ease. Now that would be a rifle! Brian

PS. I have a 50-110 Win in a TC Encore barrel and with CEB Raptor bullets it kills cape buffalo quickly. Similar load/velocity to an older traditional load in a 500NE .

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
