Another New to me SxS shotgun

nice little bird gun!

I have a couple Brit 20 bore guns - a BLE Robertson and a SLE Atkin. Easy to carry, easy to shoot, easy on the eyes.

Congratulations.

This little gun makes it easy to pick up and practice my stance, mount and swing while gaining valuable info from Robert Churchill’s book.

It’s leaning against the wall so every time I see it I grab it and practice.

It’s a good thing I don’t have any neighbors because I’ve been out in the yard mounting and swinging on bugs and birds flying by.

Nice touch, Horn tipped fore end

Beautiful shotgun! I would love to have a proper British side by side one day. For now I use a 15 plus year old CZ Bobwhite side by side 20ga almost exclusively for bird hunting. It is nothing fancy by any means but I have put thousands of rounds through it and she is still tight as when I got her. I have been shooting her since I was 16 and I have no desire to ever shoot a semi-auto or pump for wingshooting again.

Beautiful shotgun! Is the book more focused towards shotgun information/care or is it about shooting instruction, form etc?

Also is this book specific to SxS or is it also applicable to O/U?

Nice find, Happy for you. Know you will enjoy many days afield with it.

I just picked up my latest shotgun acquisition from my FFL. A 1908 Westley Richards boxlock 20 gauge.
It’s a petite little thing. But man does it mount nice. I’m thinking it may be good medicine for this fall’s Grouse and Woodcock.

Thanks to @rookhawk or curses to Rookhawk. Depending on how you look at it. I’m diving more and more into this British SxS thing.

Rookhawk suggested “Churchills Shotgun Book” Robert Churchill. So I’m practicing my stance, grip and mount.

So back to the 20 gauge. Following Churchills mount instruction. This gun is a piece of art in how it mounts.

@Altitude sickness

I’m so proud of you ! Heartiest congratulations. All you need now, are a few boxes of RST Falcon 24 Grm #6s and a group of beaters who can organize you the perfect driven grouse or partridge shoot. Or get yourself a competent pack of hounds and enjoy a lovely walked up quail shoot.

Thanks my Friend, I have a few cases of RST 2 1/2”

I have a possible dove hunt in the works.

A few grouse and woodcock hunts planned.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
