Just joined but have been following the site for a while. Lots of fantastic information and great posts and stories being shared.
Retired military (Marine), lifelong elk/duck/upland game hunter, haven't been able to hunt Africa yet, but my wife hunted Namibia a few years back. Currently focused on elk, deer and turkey hunting but planning a plains game hunt in the near future. Will be in Nashville for the show doing research/booking a hunt for next year. Wife and I will be taking the grandson to his first big hunting show, he is 11 and has been hunting dove and deer with us for the last few years. This spring will be his first turkey hunt.
Firearms wise among my rifles I own a .375H&H, one of the Whitworths from the 1980's, currently seeking for a pre-64 Winchester in 300H&H. Most recent acquisition is a .60 caliber, flintlock from Ian Pratt. Plan is to use it for Tennessee white tail and a Montana Elk this fall.

Hello from rural Idaho and welcome to AH. I’m here at the show too! I’m hanging out at booth #2861 if you want to stop in and say hello. My husband and I have been to Africa three times now. Be careful, it becomes addicting! We were supposed to go only once.

Also, thank you for your service. Freedom isn’t free.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
