Greetings AZSkibo,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

When you can spare a minute, I invite you to have a look into the Khomas Safaris website.

And double rifles yes, Congratulations on your Bosswell .500 NE double.
If you had a proper London Rifle Maker build one like it today, to the same hand fit and finish standard as that rifle, I bet the cost would be over $100,000.US Dollars.

I love double rifles and double barrel shotguns, love them.
I have owned (one here and there, not all at once) five SXS rifles and had hunted in South Africa with two of them, each said hunt was a few years apart from the other.

Presently, I own but one.
It is a Franz Sodia .375 H&H standard belted magnum, with 26” ejector barrels.
I bought it 2nd hand but, it appears unfired.

Upon firing it @ 50 meter paper targets, it apparently is not regulated for the 3 brands of USA factory loaded ammunition that I tested it with.
Neither the 270 grain bullets nor the 300 grain bullets were showing any promise.
It is very disappointing that this good looking rifle does not regulate with common factory ammunition.
One of the reasons I prefer this particular cartridge for most of my hoofed critter hunting is that, no matter where in the world big game is hunted, .375 H&H ammunition is usually (usually) available there.

Being way behind on projects around home this spring, I do not know when I’ll get around to experimenting with hand loads for it.
However, I do plan to do exactly that.
I will begin with my favorite “Jungle Load” (LoL).
It is a 300 gr Round Nose soft @ 2,400 FPS.

If that doesn’t make a good showing, next I plan to mess around with 235 grainers, at various velocities.
And, I have a decent supply of all 3 most common weight bullets in .375 diameter.
So, the hand load trial and error time might get lengthy before finding the magic.

Well anyway, cheers for now,
Velo Dog.

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
