And now for something completely different...

Boveril from Zim?? Ewwwwwwww...it's an acquired taste that I've def NOT acquired....LOL It looks like the base for bone marrow sauce (like the brown sauce used on meats in chinese restaurants,) only it's not finished yet. I bet Kevin P. has had it!!

I usually have a jar of pickled banana peppers or pepperincini (sp?) in the fridge. Guacamole thinned out a little with a healthy amount of cubed tomatoes to even out the richness of the avocado. Hummus was a welcome discovery years ago. I can eat a plate of mexican rice, refried beans, shredded lettuce and pico de gallo, guac and sour cream with some good chips, no meat needed.

When I was growing up, one of my best friend's parents were from England. His mom drove us to the beach a couple of times and she had made cucumber sandwiches for lunch. Kinda of bland, but not bad.

I tried that exact stuff at the breakfast table in Namibia. Up until then I just thought bovril was a drink. This was like the concentrated boiled down version of it.

How to make a cucumber sandwich:

Place cucumber between two slices of bread, open bread, remove cucumber and throw it to the dog, eat the bread.

The dog wouldn't eat it! Ha! Ha!

After way too much beef, wursts (and even salmon) during the holidays, i began eating a decent amount of guacamole (seasoned avacado puree) with small, chip-sized pieces of indian naan bread. It was great! I think that was the body's way of telling us to up the ratio of unsaturated fats (veggies) to saturated (meats!) That, and whomever displayed it rather unprecariously in the refrigerator... 'Works for me!
Guac and Naan bread; that is something I will have to soon try.

Funny quick story. Cleaning out the garden one fall I found a pickler cucumber that was missed underneath some foliage alongside a raised bed for apparently weeks. The thing was at least 4" in diameter and 6-7" long. I just left the plant it was attached to to see how big it could get in the remaining few weeks. So I'm taking an armload of stuff through the gate and my lab scoots passed with that "I have something and I'm proud of it" pep to his step. He also sniffed out the giant cuc and ripped it off the vine. It was so big even he couldn't eat it all. The fence is/was to keep out the deer AND him. RIP.

You haven't lived till you've eaten mustard sardine burritos in a driving rainstorm! Short elk hunting story: father in law forgot the meat and we were ten miles packed in. He had tortillas in his pack and I had two cans of the sardines in mine. We were in our sleeping bags under a tarp on about a 40 degree angle with our feet on a log to keep from sliding and getting the bags wet in the growing stream below the log while eating the burritos. Wish I could've had Tabasco! I hope my African hunt is like this! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Yeah, I see the fridge isn't plugged in. No electricity? No worries, put the beer in the snow and the food in a cooler in the snow. I HAVE done that before when the electricity went out in the winter. Works great! Oh, and get the snow off your grill and COOK. I've grilled twice in -25 weather. Propane is a gift from the Gods!

I thought I was odd….now I know better

Homemade guacamole with fresh from the garden avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro, jalapeño and squeeze of lime. Great for smoked trout tacos or a snack with tortilla chips.

I'll admit...I buy the avocado from the store but everything else is fresh.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
