Ammunition Holder for Buffalo Hunt Options

I have used the same Murray Leather ammo holder for many Safaris. I have two of them for .375 and one for .470. They are light and durable.
My new Murray Cartridge Belt, recently purchased and conditioned.
Now it's getting "broke in" with some 416RM ammo.
Before I hunt, I put some cold ashes from the fire in the cartridge holes.
It makes the rounds slip in and out very easily.

That fine piece of craftsmanship must be a pleasure to own and wear.

Personal preference but I like Murray with slot tab instead of snap to avoid noise when opening or closing.. I have them for both my 308 and 375 and they work great.

Kevin, where did you get that shirt? That looks handy. I always seem to have my shirt tail come out and get in my way with cartridges on my belt. I also have a bit of dublap that make a belt less than perfect. With my double, reaching up would be more ergonomic with lesser waving.
I also wear safari style shirts doing naturalist work. Itwouldbe handy to keep my thermometer and small vials in those loops.
Thanks
Bfl
Aye, keep the rounds north of the equator where the gun is.

I am looking for a safari shirt that has shell loops sewed into the shirt and can’t find one anywhere. Shooting 470 NE
Boyt has the "safari shirt" with cartridge loops as well. Worn on 2 PG hunts and will go for my buff hunt in May. Quite a bit less expensive than the WR branded option which us nice as most clothes I being to Africa come back with snags and holes anyway.

I'll be buying a Murray belt with the elastic ammo holders. Between my S2 with 3 barrel sets, and my wifes R8 that has 2 already, the versatility for different cartridges of the elastic vs leather will save enough $ in belts to buy another R8 barrel haha

Five rounds in the magazine.
Up to 10 on the stock
If that's not enough for me, I don't know what is.

Rifle and cartridges- always one unit-
Never separate from each other

10 rounds? Do you have rounds on each side of the stock? If so how is that to shoot?

I've utilized those butt stock cartridge holders before and was going to ask if anyone else did or if there was a reason to avoid it for DG. To me though it seems like a good way to keep from having to wear something around your waste if that isn't your thing.

I tried the butt stock shell holder and didn't like it.
Getting the cartridges out of the but stock holder vs a belt carrier...not even close.
Carried on the belt is much faster for me.
Plus the convenience of taking it off when I get in the bakkie is nice.

Belt has been faster for my DR reloading, buttstock and belt have been the same for me on my cz550 416 Rigby topping over or reloading. Although, I've seen the wrist carrier that @IvW Posted and it looks nice and easy for a top off.

I agree that a wrist carrier makes sense for a double or single shot rifle.
I've also seen an elastic wrap around the forend of a Ruger No. 1 that holds a few rounds.

Yes, there are clients that use a Ruger No. 1 for DG.
Not for everybody, but as a client, I believe it's a viable option.

Good morning John. Who makes this? Is this Murray’s C2?
I’m not sure if I answered, but yes it is. It’s a great piece of kit.
there is a guy here in the valley (Palmer) that makes some damn fine gear, but since COVID, I haven’t heard from him.

Thanks for the reply John. That looks a lot better than what is shown on their website.

I called Diamond D in Wasilla last year to see whether they would make any of these for larger calibers and their answer was no.

I think I will place order with Murray’s this week. Thanks again for the reply.

I’m surprised, sort of, that Diamond D turned you down. The make slides for some very large pistol rounds, so it’s an easy transition. Oh well.

I have looked at Boyt but canno find one with shell loops. Please share exact name. Thanks!

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
