Hello All,

My apologies up front as this type question has no doubt been asked many times before. I'm looking for responses from PH's, outfitters, and those who have hunted various African countries much more than I have. Realistically what is the availability of .375 Ruger ammo in South Africa, Zim, Namibia? I ask in the unfortunate event that my bag containing my ammo doesn't show up when I arrive for a hunt. In five trips to Africa I've had my guns not show up but never my bag with my ammo. There's always a first time for everything though. Would like to know my odds in this situation.

Please, no debates about using/bringing the venerable .375 H&H. I have one, a great round, carried it over there several times, just have a new toy I want to give a try next time.

Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Longfeather

Please permit e to ride your coat tails on this. I intend to take a .375 Ruger next year (assuming communist Chinese flu is done).

When I hunted in Caprivi, my PH had a 375 ruger as a spare rifle and he said the outfitter in the neighboring concession had a 375 ruger as a rental rifle for clients, so it is available at least to some extent.

I am reasonable sure that we could find you some, but you might loose a couple of days of hunting. The only dangerous game ammunition that would be readily accessible would be:

.338 (cats)
.375 H&H
.404 J
.450-.400 3".
.470 Nitro

If your plane landed in Harare or Bulawayo, we could probably find some within the hour.

As a test at 0800hrs. this morning I will get on the phone and find out how long it takes.

I made one phone call and found two boxes. The person who had the two boxes said that they knew where to get more.

South Africa, no problem. Even i sell them in my gun shop in Cape Town.. other countries not sure

Many thanks for the info
