Looks like it was a nice bait collector for ya!

Yes indeed that shorter length is handy in the blind...you just have to be sure the muzzle is out the window.Nice and easy to stick out the window! Short package
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve banged a steel blind with some long 26 inch bolt gun trying to get it out the window haha.
I modified my pop up blind just like that as well!Yes indeed that shorter length is handy in the blind...you just have to be sure the muzzle is out the window.

I may have to do this, just becauseFinally, after nearly two months at the gunsmith, here is the "trop" safety installed on my No. 1 in 300 H&H. The last blurred image is the factory safety.View attachment 700662View attachment 700663View attachment 700664
@CJNJ, how do you the new safety? Does the brass eject cleanly over top? Finally, after nearly two months at the gunsmith, here is the "trop" safety installed on my No. 1 in 300 H&H. The last blurred image is the factory safety.View attachment 700662View attachment 700663View attachment 700664
It's definitely better than it was. With the factory safety and the long 300 H&H cartridge, ejecting often meant the empty went right back into the chamber. It was infuriating. Doesn't do that now, but I still cant the rifle to the left to ensure the case flies away.@CJNJ, how do you the new safety? Does the brass eject cleanly over top?
If you’re running a 1 inch tube try an offset Ruger ring on the back mount. It would allow more support for the optic and give more eye relief adjustmentDon’t have any “in the field” photos, but my two No.1s are a 458 Win Mag Tropical and a 30-06 with a mannlicher stock. The 458 was unfired and in the original box. Still playing around with optics for both, but I’m taking the 458 for Buffalo in 2027

Almost all accuracy issues with #1s can be simply cured with adjustments to barrel forend pressure. The hicks accurizer is easy to install yourself and solves the problem.I’ve always admired Ruger #1’s. My father has several and they are all shooters.
The only one I have owned was a 300 H&H, and it shot horribly, so I traded it in. Have no clue what was wrong with it, but I did eliminate that it was not scope or ring/mount issues. I know this is not the norm at all for no1’s.
I have always wanted another one in 9.3x74R, but very hard to find.
I understated the improvement. Having run a dozen cartridges through it, each flew out, but I still like to have the rifle tilted to my left so they fly in that direction. It's definitely better than it was. If I might, where did you source the safety? My 375 is an empty “reloader” on ejection as well!I understated the improvement. Having run a dozen cartridges through it, each flew out, but I still like to have the rifle tilted to my left so they fly in that direction.
