Allure of the Ruger No1

I have a 30-06 B model. It is one of my favorites. Very light and a beautiful rifle. Regarding accuracy, you will probably not reach that of a similar bolt gun. My shoots around an inch at 100 yds after a lot of load work and semi-floating the forearm with a rubber washer on the hanger.
I have a small data set, but my experience with the accuracy of the newer No 1’s has been outstanding. Like 1/2 moa outstanding.

A different gunsmith did this one in 1999. He sent his work to an engraver for marking, but I got hold of this one before he sent it off.
Years later I got my local Gunsmith to stamp it.
I asked him to get the "2" into exponential position.
That was not unintentional on this one:

So this one also could use some supplementary laser engraving.

Haha, good to see even the experts are human, with a sense of humor!

One of my local gun shops has an older, gently used, No1 in 6.5x55 Swede, with the full length Mannlicher stock. Would be another cartridge to reload for but I am thinking it might be a great deer/elk/black bear rifle for my daughter. Any thoughts?
I have one built by Mauser in Oberndorf for the Swedish army in 1899. Very mild shooter, accurate and definitely good deer rifle.

You will never regret buying the 300H&H, mine is the "jewel in the crown" of my No1 collection.

Just bought mine. Love how it shoots!

Though it usually sits in my safe while the big sevens and huge thirtys go hunting, my #1 in 338win is more than accurate for 1/4 mile hunting. I decided "why not" after making three consecutive one-shot kills the previous year and getting a great bargain on it years ago. It hasn't been used since I missed a couple simple shots and took a good hit at 550 during my first year with it; I'm not sure if that's because I have buck fever or because the rifle fits a little differently. I spend a lot of time in the field with my Browning 300win, and I also spend some time at my remmy 7stw and remmy 7rum semi customs.

The #1 barrel stamped with .275 Rigby is truly a rifle to grab up when you see one!

I have one. :D I need to post a picture.
