Allure of the Ruger No1

I am always on the hunt for that one!
I certainly like mine, perhaps the finest No 1
ever produced. I have a strong preference for the 24” barrel on a No 1. The 22” just looks too short to me.

i had about a dozen ruger #1,s over the years in all calibers, now i have only three. a 35 whelen, a .223 and just got a 300 H&H new in the box at public auction.
You will never regret buying the 300H&H, mine is the "jewel in the crown" of my No1 collection.

I have the RSI 6.5x55 and it is a pleasant rifle to shoot, over 7 lbs. with no scope. Also have a No. 1 in .45-70.

I picked up a "like new" CB 300 H&H No 1 and it looks pristine, but I cannot get it to group for crap. The fixed sights are off by over a foot at 50 yards. Haven't had time to do a deep dive into it to try and sort it out which is unfortunate because I love that caliber and I want to love that rifle. If I can't figure it out then I will have to get a gunsmith involved to make sure nothing is structurally wrong with it.

The 24" and 26" are my favorite as well.

I fitted a Hicks accuriser to mine from the get go, it shoots 180gr Woodleigh SP and 175gr Atomic29 solid copper bullets into .9 inch groups, even when I mix the rounds in the same group.
Well worth the $'s.

Thank you, I will look into that!

I agree with the 24" barrel, the rifles are very balanced. I also have the 1A 24" 250 Savage, that is my Virginia deer rifle.

I have a 30-06 B model. It is one of my favorites. Very light and a beautiful rifle. Regarding accuracy, you will probably not reach that of a similar bolt gun. My shoots around an inch at 100 yds after a lot of load work and semi-floating the forearm with a rubber washer on the hanger.

Saw this was available over at R & M Firearms at El Campo Texas. Someone should act quickly if they want it;)

Wouldn’t that be a handy little rifle in the bush!

I had a 475 Turnbull built on a #1 fine rifle shoot 400 gr tsx and solids very accurately nice to shoot.
