Allow me to introduce myself!!

Welcome John!

Your planning and logic all seem very sound. A DIY elk hunt can be very rewarding and fun............unless you get one. Then the real work begins. Make sure you are prepared to pack it out.

Your longer term plan to possibly take your son to Africa one day will happen, just keep the dream alive!

All the best to you.

Welcome to AH John!

Welcome and enjoy!

Hi all. Never been to Africa and always assumed it would remain out of my reach. Decided it certainly would never happen if that was my attitude. Been reading, planning, budgeting for a year now. No Africa yet, by my son and I will be heading to Idaho this year for Elk. This is a first for us and it never would have happened if we had not started here. My son is already exploring a Roosevelt Elk hunt in Alaska. He has just about got me convinced I can get in the shape a hunt like that will demand.

Being in Dallas last week I missed your intro, sorry to be slow but welcome to AH nonetheless!

Welcome to the forum!

All the best and good luck planning.

Kind regards
Hendrik

Welcome John Camp. Enjoy your hunt together

Welcome John. Best of luck on that elk hunt!

But do make a plan and stay the course for getting you and your son to Africa. You will find many outfitters offering deals for you and your son to hunt together. Even when you thi I you found a great deal, politely ask if they can do any better for you and you may be pleasantly surprised. Especially if you go a bit out of their prime season.

As for danger, unless on a DG hunt... Your elk hunt is probably more dangerous.

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary
