Alec Baldwin Movie Set Accident

Wow, "when it went off", so does this mean Baldwin didn't pull the trigger? The gun has a mind of its own, and decided to go off? What a crock of sh*t! Even the suing lawyers don't know jack about guns. Ugh!

To keep with the western movie theme of Rust, “hang em’ high”!

Sad about the gal, but watching him stew will sell a lotta popcorn! 'Couldn't happen to a more deserving person...To prep for the murder trial, he settled both his (punch lady in the face for parking spot in NYC) and the co-worker's lawsuit (a money-grab attempt from someone that wasn't harmed.) His way of life keeps his lawsuits (as a defendant) in perpetuity. 'Keeps his lawyers quite happy.

he's Hollyweird/NYC/MSM elite LibDem. They'll hang him somewhere between wrist-slap and Med.

Boy it sure is crazy that the one live round it the box just happened to be in the tube and go off won it’s own the instant it was pointed at someone. Gosh! What if it had spontaneously combusted in the box in the ammo cache?! I’m waiting for the recall.

Seriously! Does anyone actually believe this crap? He denied training on that type of weapon, didn’t check it, was “quick drawing” where weapon control is iffy at best, and can’t say why it was loaded at all during a “rehearsal”. Add to that his subtle insinuation that she was somehow partially at fault for telling him to aim it at her. It’s absurd to assume anyone could believe that all that comes together as such.
This happened. Man up and just admit you screwed up buddy boy.

I wonder if the actual shot was even his first draw and "dry fire". Odds say it probably was not.

I hope the lawyers are smart enough to find out, after his claim that it fired itself. Did it self cock the hammer and dry fire itself a time or two first?

Among the concerns raised were that Baldwin had turned down training for the specific kind of gun draw that he performed when he shot Hutchins. In addition, it's unclear why a real gun was being used in the first place since according to the industry standards cited in the video, that setup – which was to prepare for filming – called for the use of a rubber or similar prop gun.

Baldwin, who was also a producer on the film, claims that Hutchins had asked him to point the gun at her, and it went off on its own.

*I just didn't want to see this thread disappear, as it keeps us entertained through the deep, dark winter (3F today and "crunchy" out.)

Getting this info into this thread. The video is worth 10MM words, IMO, and covers the many industry safety standards that were ignored.
As the OP noted, you need to scroll down a ways in the article to get to the actual video.
Go down in the article and there is an animated video that the attorney's for Halyna Hutchins' family has created to show what happened on set. Dang. I don't know how a defense attorney for the film, production, Baldwin, etc. would be able to defeat it.

The end of the video lists 15 different things that the attorneys are alleging were done wrong.

Wow, yeah I missed the video the first time, thanks. Seems pretty indisputable really. A series of ignored warnings and protocols. Sad that it takes such a tragedy to show the “I’m too good for that” Hollywood know-it-all’s that the protocols and safety meetings are in place for exactly this reason. He can point the finger all he wants but he’s the one that pointed the gun. I hope he’s held accountable along with anyone else that ignored the rules.
Truly tragic.

He pointed a loaded gun at another human being, the gun fired, and the person was killed. Those are all facts. Under no circumstances should he not be held accountable. None.

That's what they had been using on the set.

Real guns and live rounds ?
Real and functional, but with dummy rounds. Apparently they had been shooting it earlier with live rounds taking target practice and what not just for shitz and giggles. There should never be any live rounds on set, but Baldwin clearly knew that it was a functioning firearm. There is really no excuse but you are probably right about his buddies saving him or some damn thing. He's probably going to get off with a slap on the wrist.

This nonsense Baldwin is saying about not having pulled the trigger will last about a nanosecond in court. They will function test the revolver extensively and confirm it was in operating order. An expert will testify that the weapon that killed her was not defective and couldn’t have just “gone off.” I’m sure his attorney cringes every time he makes that claim.

He has to take some responsibility, whatever that is.
Secondly has any offence been committed Simply by him handling a real firearmm with real ammunition?
The shooting a person aside for a moment that's to be decided in court.
Was he licenced to be in possession of the real firearm or real ammunition?
Is he licenced?
Is possession or discharging the firearm an offence?
It doesn't help her or the other person who was shot but if he's guilty of an offence add it.
Perhaps the shooting was accidental , caused by negligence, stupity or both but if he was unlawfully in possession that's barely the tip of the iceberg but undisputable.

He is not going to wiggle out of this at least not financially. He is the big fish money wise and a target for the family's lawyers. There will be others to file separate civil suites also. His production company partners may turn on him also as they will be drawn into these civil suits.

Hard to see how he will avoid criminal prosecution as he killed an innocent female by his direct negligence and pointing the weapon at her. What they charge him with is critical cause it will be pleaded down. He's an entitled bully, what jury will be sympathetic with him?

Let him keep talking, his arrogance and big mouth will come back to haunt him in court.

This is the United States. "Licensed to be in possession" is not a thing.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
