AH Upgrade! (Comments & some Q&A)

Jerome,

I have no clue how much time, work and money you have incurred in doing this.

It looks and works great!

All I can say is THANK YOU!

It's fast, the last website got bogged down at times.

I am very impressed with the new layout and skin. It's user friendly and easy on the eye with some great new features. Many thanks to everyone involved!!

I must confess I do miss the right hand column of ongoing conversations where one could get the gist of it without having to look over all the subjects to see if something interesting was being discussed. Just me maybe. Unfortunately I find myself participating less. Old habits die hard.

I always go to the new posts tab at the top. that way i don't have to browse all the forums to see what is going one.

Yes, of course, but the point was, before I didn't have to do anything except open AH and boom, all the conversations were there to see and the trends as well. Not trying to sound like a baby whiner, just that like I said, it was easier before to see what was going on, and what was interesting to me at a glance. I realize Jerome had to do this, so don't anybody jump on me for my comments. I just preferred the old format. Like I said old habits die hard. I still love this forum, I just don't feel compelled to visit as often now.

sestoppelman,

First of all thank you for being willing to share your thoughts about what was/could be better about the site and I would hope that no one would jump on you for that. I have received so much positive feedback, which is nice, but some honest thoughts about what is not as good is invaluable to me and I appreciate it. I always strive to make this site the best that it could be, so your input is so important.

I realize that it is not always easy when things change and truthfully I would not have done this if it was not necessary. I will share with you that I have not yet completed the homepage, but needed to work on that separately since I wanted to get the site back up and running ASAP. It is my intention that the new homepage will feature in the main body right at the top the latest threads/conversations, similar to the old right side bar with new threads and posts column. It will still be a couple of weeks before the homepage will be ready to roll out. I had very little time to prepare and do the transition so reinventing the homepage was put aside until after the transition and fixing any of the bugs, broken links, etc.

The new homepage will feature cascading dynamic elements in boxed cells (a fixed one at the top with current conversation) that are updating constantly to feature the latest content, trending topics, pictures and the historically most popular topics that have been staples of the site to appeal to all of you who come on a regular basis as well as those who just stop by from time to time and others who are just discovering the site for the first time.

At this stage I am still trying to work out how I am going to create the vision that I have for the homepage and bring it into reality, but I will certainly take your comments into consideration as I want to make the homepage as dynamic, easy to use and engaging as possible.

Jerome, I appreciate that and I know this had to be done. I look forward to the evolution of the site. Its still my favorite forum.

Much appreciated, thanks! :)

Jerome / Brickburn,
I cant seem to find the smiley's...
where'd you hide the little buggers?
thanks

I find that by hitting the minutes part with my I touch, brings me to the last post very quickly. I was having a hard time hitting the number if there was more than one page. But then I just clicked on how many minutes had passed and it brought me to the exact post, which I like.

Just embedded pics in a thread for the first time since the upgrade, far easier now than before the upgrade!

Yes, what a relief! You can also drag and drop files/images to upload right into a post reply … very easy. :D

What browser are you using? Have you updated your browser recently? Try using a different browser and let me know.

Ah hah!!!!
I'm using IE10, sending this message on Google chrome and i see the smileys! (y)
they come us as a line of 30 smileys as the bottom of this text box.
any idea why IE10 isn't showing them?
Thanks for the help

It's a compatibility issue! Myself, I use primarily Safari and Chrome but from time to time have to use Firefox for some applications… I have not used Internet Explorer in 10 years so I could not tell you much about it.

No problem,Chrome it is.
Thanks(y)

Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!

Hello. If you haven't already sold this rifle then I will purchase. Please advise. Thank you.

I doubt you are interested in any trades but I was getting ready to list a Sauer 404 3 barrel set in the 10-12 price range if your interested. It has the 404J, 30-06 and 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Only the 30-06 had been shot and it has 7 rounds through it as I was working on breaking the barrel in. It also has both the synthetic thumbhole stock and somewhere between grade 3-5 non thumbhole stock
