African Taxidermy Pictures

I'll post up a few more tomorrow, mainly North American beasts.

Our Cabelas has some awesome mounts, there is a Nyala to die for but their display pales in comparison to Bass Pro

Thye all have displays of some sort as well as plenty of stand alone mounts.
Our Cabelas (Edmonton) has a small African display, a small Antelope display and a huge Sheep mountain with the other local game at the bottom. They try to have a lot of local wildlife as well as game from around the world.

Our Bass Pro shops has the most incredible Caribou herd running down a hill from the upper mezanine to the main floor being chased by wolves. It is a sight to behold.

I only managed to visit two Cabela's, the one above in Richfield and one in Prairie du Chien, both in Wisconsin and they both had displays although the Richfield store was much bigger and better. Any shop that has an aeroplane, an elephant and a polar bear in it is worth visiting!
I didn't make it to a Bass Pro shop unfortunately although I did get to Gander Mountain just outside Madison. There was no display of animals but still worth a look, especially if you're from a country that doesn't do gun shops quite like the U.S.
I actually had a go in the virtual shooting range there. I was wandering around and found my way to the shooting range, the guy behind the desk asked if he could help me so I gave the usual "I'm from the U.K.....etc" so we got chatting. My wife and daughter eventually found me and he invited us all to have a go on the virtual range with a Glock on the house!
Great fun and a really nice guy!

Adrian, Thanks for sharing the photos. It is always fun to walk through the big box sporting goods stores just to see their taxidermy.

A question to taxidermists........in photos 4,5 and 6 of the buff.

Does this look like a soft boss buff?

If so is this typically how a taxidermist makes it look like a hard boss buff? Thanks.

Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops, I always enjoy looking at the taxidermy and the Gun Library, the gun counter is good too, but I like the guns that are 'art' as well as 'weapon.'
