Africa Hunting........................Not Really!?

I see both sides and both have valid points, it's a two edged sword!

I kind of like the deals being offered all over, and I think the bigger thing is more offers are being posted regarding NA hunting offers. I went back and looked and there was quite a few Asian hunts offered. I just saw a Walrus hunt! I didn't know that was a thing. Also you can hunt Seals in Namibia, can you imagine anything in this world that would piss the antis off more then to shoot a seal!!! I learned about these on Africahunting.com and though completely off topic, I now have something to ponder in my deer stand.

I will say, you guys need to stop posting hunts in Europe, one these times I am going to have to explain to my wife what a roe deer or chamois is.

I came here a 5 years ago to research going to africa. went back 2 years later. want to go again some day.
I had never hunted anywhere outside of Mississippi until I hunted in South Africa. strange.
Since then I've hunted mule deer, coyotes, pheasant, and big whitetails outside of our state.
And I am going elk hunting in New Mexico in October.
But, on here and another site, I read about Roe Deer and stags in Scotland.
I read about chamois in Austria, Romania, New Zealand, and Spain.
I read about tahr in New Zealand.
I read about Ibex in Spain, Turkey, and the "Stan" countries.
I read about Caribou and muskox in Greenland and moose, mountain goat, black bear, grizzly, etal all over North America.
I read about Cape Buffalo and sable, and a few more plainsgame in Africa.
I read about all theses places and all these animals and I want to go everywhere and hunt them all.
I blame you guys.

As others have said already- I love this website.

This is a very special place in today's day and age - a website where the members are actually polite, helpful, and actually knowledgeable.

I came here for information on hunting in Africa. However, in the process of researching our first safari, I've also found that AH is by far the best place to get information on hunting just about anywhere in the world, fancy rifles, and just about any other topic- all in a judgement-free environment with lots of very smart and experienced folks.

The nice thing with a forum is that you only need to read the articles and posts that interest you. All others can be ignored.

I like all. There is nothing better to me than to read a good hunt report no matter where it's from. As for the offers being made.....I might bite on one of them!

And that is why i prefer this forum to many others.
Some arguments get heated, but i have yet to see any get as out of hand some forums do...

Well I guess its all been said.

I agree this is the THE forum for hunting...........I just hope it doesn't go the way of the Viagra touting magazine commented on above.
I will certainly keep reading and looking at deals as I really enjoy them. I am glad everyone seems happy still and hope Jerome's focus remains on Africa!

Great forum guys!

I come here for Africa hunting, but enjoy the discussion and offers for nonafrican hunts.

................. hope Jerome's focus remains on Africa!

Great forum guys!

I'll keep him in line. Don't worry.

No I wouldn't want to see the Viagra and lubricants ads either. What I really can't deal with is the TV hunting shows that play that Narcotic Music (I'D have to be on drugs to listen to it) in the background. What's that all about?

I don't mind all the offers being posted.....

But I'm more inclined to pursue a hunt with someone who actually participates in forum discussion, rather than just see how many hunts one can post to try and get my sponsorship monies worth.

I agree I'm more inclined to hunt with a forum participant (if for no other reason than you have a better idea of what kind of operation they run and attitudes they have), but I see no negative connotations with a non-participating sponsor. Having a sponsor keeps the lights on here and in return the sponsor gets a return on his investment. It's purely a business decision imo.

I joined AH for the Africa Hunting info. Since then I have made some new friends, learned TONS more about hunting related stuff that I never would have imagined when I signed up. The global hunting, fishing, and all the other stuff is part of what keeps this place interesting IMO and would hate to see that change. I like the AH community and everything that AH provides.

Just the conversations on the merits of owning a 375HH are enough to keep more than a few of us occupied:)

And it would appear that just about every conversation ends up being about the 375 H&H. ;)

I too love AH and the community, but if other hunting starts to makeup the majority it will really be a general hunting site if Africa isn't the main focus.

I love the international community here. I can't even begin to imagine how I would have learnt so much about hunting if it weren't for the variety of experience found here. I find that learning about other places to hunt, such as Romania, or getting advice on hunting locally in N.America, is all part of the dialogue. It is exciting to become part of the community of hunters who hunt globally. But, in my mind what separates this forum from the rest is the fact that Africa is still the top of the mountain. We are all here because it is Africa that has captured our imagination. And, I would think AH would lose a lot of its feel if that were not the case.

Well I joined AH because every time I searched for info on .375 Ruger I found that about 1/3 to 1/2 of the results brought me here.

This is the place for everything 375 and since I was about to get one it only made sense to join.
As far as making it to Africa that is a long shot at best but not completely out of the question.
And if I keep coming to this site it my get me in trouble!
The wife can and does shoot on occasion but she can't tell a Winchester from a marlin so guns can come and go unnoticed but if I were to disappear for two weeks along with a large sum of money I think she would notice.

That being said I am drawn to large caliber firearms and this is the place to get information on them. So thanks for all I have and all I will learn.
Shawn

We all enjoy reading about hunting, what I enjoy the most is reading the happiness that a hunt has brought a person, whether in Africa, Europe or the States..

I have shared more laughs on here, with people I have never met, but feel like I have known them all my life.

Everything costs money to operate, guess AH is no exception.

This whole world is driven by money there is no exception if it weren't we could all go to Africa to hunt when we wanted to.
