Advice For Ontario Spring Bear Hunt

I clearly said, the same group of slobs in my area. I couldn't care less if you don't take my side. If you want to run dogs, buy your own land or run off crown land, not others land who have not given permission.Bear slobs who run dogs in my area re nothing but slob road warrior tresspassers, is that clearer for you? They are so lazy they don't even get out of their beat up ole trucks while sitting on my land trying to argue....slobs.

By the way, you can clearly shoot dry sows in Ontario. They do not have to be male to be legal. I would start baiting for a few days before I started huntin up in the Thunder bay area if possible. Ive been hunting bears since I could walk....Good luck I let 9 different bears go this spring on my baits, lots of dinks and average bears and a few good ones.I'd rather just watch them now as I get older.

yes I believe I’ve got a “clearer” read on atleast one part of the equation....

No need to bring out your pointed little brush and paint...we've been paying your way all down that eastern way for the last 50 years or so. Go vote libtard for more handouts.

Chill out dude. This may be acceptable on other forums, but it’s not how we behave on this one.

Pheroze, I’ve done some predator calling for bear, but mostly griz. Bear are like cats, you have to call a lot or they lose interest. Very different than calling coyotes or wolves.

Downsides:
I have experienced a full on charge from the dominant bear.
Others will circle downwind as mentioned above: watch your 6, he’s coming for dinner so his behavior will be different than normal.
You typically only get a small window to shoot or shut up. Very difficult to judge.

I have always found the fall season to be better in the north country, our spring season is better than our fall season for bait hunting . I use a mixture of grain, sweets and chip truck grease on my baits.

I'd b very picky if using a outfitter and a guide in Northern Ontario. I wouldn't trust a lot of them and than is being more than nice about it.

A lot of these places are running 20-30 baits within a few miles and sending the same pictures of the same 5-6 bears hitting most baits. I worked them and have buddies still working them and It is still the same old story. There are very good places as well but there are a lot of shady ones too.

I'm not taking shit from him, or anyone else on any forum. I don't care about post count.I am not new to this game and I definitely don't need a lecture. I already put him on ignore. Thanks for the info on how to behave!
Hi @White Man and welcome to AH! As @WAB mentioned to you this is a friendly community based on mutual respect and throwing insults is not how we go about having discussion here. We look forward to having you as part of our AH but we just ask that you treat members respectfully, thank you.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
