Well let me start off by saying this, sorry to who may not like this. After serious debate for months and asking opinions on this site I added a Terminator T3 brake to my rifle. I was unable to deal with the recoil anymore but I did take plenty of PG and DG with it in the past. So here are a few pics and a horror story with it.

On 12/14/24 I took my rifle to a “reputable” gun smith near where I live in Kentucky who was going to thread the barrel for me. Upon dropping it off I was told “it may be a few weeks before I get to it” so I gave him a few weeks then a phone call. Let’s just say after a call every 2 weeks for 2 1/2 months I decided to take my business elsewhere but upon calling the guy he told me magically he would start on it the next day. 3 days later I received a call telling me it was ready. Upon picking the rifle up he told me “well, the barrel band at the end of the barrel gave me some grief but I got it off and had to fix your bluing.” I thought ok, well you had to heat the barrel to get the band off but after inspecting the rifle I noticed almost the whole barrel from the dovetail to the end of the barrel was splotchy like he went over the whole thing with a torch and charged me $100 over what he quoted! Me being me I thought it was wise I just left and not do what I wanted to do to the older veteran, which I am as well.

I finally got a chance to fire my rifle Friday and noticed as I put a round in, it was like the trigger didn’t reset as I drove the bolt forward. I fired the rifle and was very happy with the brake but I wanted to put another round down range. I racked another round and the same thing happened! The trigger didn’t reset! I racked another round and it fired but I had had enough! I took the rifle home knowing I was dropping it off to be cerakoted that night from where you know who had made my barrel look like trash. I decided to pull the stock off and without much surprise the trigger/sear spring fell out and no, it wasn’t broken, the gunsmith got me again. I put the assembly back together correctly and took it for cerakote.

Hopefully all the drama with my rifle is over now and I can get it tuned up for Hippo in June!

Hate that you had such a hard time with it. I also hope you have time to get some reps with it to rebuild your confidence before your hunt.

So far I have put around 30 rounds through it after I remounted my scope and I am very happy with the results! Depending on the weather and my days off I would love to put another 50+ rounds down range soon! The kick has lessened by more than 50% and I can actually now focus on the squeeze and not the recoil coming!
