A different rifle, Kipplauf, when one shot is all you need

For a long time I have been wanting something different for my own hunting needs.

I have looked at O/U double rifles with swing off scope mounts and I have also looked at Bergstutzen(two different calibers on one rifle), O/U rifle with scope mounts...

Then I have discovered the Kipplauf and in particular the Blaser K93. Now this might just be what I am looking for. All information I can find mentions that they are very accurate and very strong actions. They come in all the popular European calibers and the barrels are interchangeable.

This makes for a very interesting rifle and I am leaning strongly in this direction.

The calibers I am considering are 9.3x74R, 7x65R, 7x57R and 6.5x57R, I would have to choose only two of these.

Anybody out there using this Rifle?

Any thoughts and feedback would be appreciated...

I have a Blaser K95 standard model in 7x65R with a Leupold Vx6 2-12x42 scope on it. I love it!! Most of my hunting is open tops mountain hunting, hence the 7x65R. The last two deer I shot with it were at 360 and 390 yds.
I break it apart and strap to my pack for the walk in then reassemble to hunt. It has never lost zero. Having one shot really focuses you, but has never been an issue.
They are a light, small rifle and a larger calibre would be unpleasant.

I’m about to order one with a couple of barrels: 5.6x50R Magnum, 30R Blaser and probably one more. I’m trying to organise a custom stock for mine as I don’t like the standard Bavarian style ones, am waiting to hear back from the dealer about cost and Blaser’s ability/willingness to do it.

I was told at the gun shop that currently (from 2019) K95 is available with two stock shapes: a hogsback type with large drop as well as a straight one. For use with a scope the straight stock would be better I think. Personally I’d like to have one shaped like the Fanzoj KB-1 ( http://fanzoj.com/collection/single-shot-rifles/fanzoj-kipplauf-kb-1 ). I should find out in a couple of days what Blaser says about it.

I don't know if you will be interested but, a friend of mine has a Merkel K-3 that he really likes. It is chambered in 6.5x57R and he says he has worked for hours on bolt action rifles to obtain the accuracy his Merkel possesses from the box. He also told me he could have saved thousands of dollars if he had only bought this rifle earlier.

The K95 is a superb rifle in any configuration. Whatever second caliber you get, I would strongly urge the 7x65R. It is, I think, the most perfectly balanced deer, sheep, antelope round ever designed for a single shot rifle.

For a second caliber, I would think something smaller and faster as in a 5.6 (as @Opposite Pole suggests, the 5.6x50R would be a terror on jackal, baboons, and vaal rehbok way out there).

I do have a 7x65R in a combination gun and really like it, should take care of everything out there on the more open areas we hunt.

Second caliber I am leaning towards something heavier for our bush veld conditions. 8x57 JRS or my other favorite, the 9.3x74R.

5.6x50R is a bit too small and legal on small game ammo will also be a problem here.

6,5x57R is another I like a lot...

May have to look at three barrels...

1. 22 Hornet or 5.6x50R
2. 7x65R
3. 9.3x74R or 8x57JRS

If you are looking for a Kipplauf, take a look at Prinz Waffen No.1. They are custom guns but the pricing doesn't look bad for what they are. Great flexibility in features.
