A Custom built 350 Rem Mag - Leonard Mews Mannlicher Stock

I recently purchased this nice Custom rifle from a seller on a classified forum. It appears the Douglas barrel and metal-work was done by PD Cain in Dec. 1966 as marked "Douglas Barrel by PD Cain 122966", but the stock / checkering was gone by Leonard Mews. I found Leonard's a very light stamp in the barrel channel - now enhanced with some dark stain. The seller's description tells all. A field test will follow next week.

as always, your comments are most welcome :D

Looks absolutely sweet for an 80-ish year old action refurbished 50 years ago. A real gorgeous safe queen built by someone who rea;;y knew what they were doing! You hit a gold mine

Interesting looking 03. Nice work, wonder why they didn't include irons.

I agree - it would look better with iron sights, but maybe the original owner was like me - 73 year old eyes - that can't see irons - and would rather have a scope.

You find some interesting rifles my friend.

Let us know how she shoots. Very nice looking rifle although, I also lament the absence of iron sights.

Brass is hard to get , Redding make a form & trim die, its easily made out of 7 MM Rem mag brass, form trim, & anneal & you are ready to go. 200 & 220 grain bullets work well , Speer & Hornady is what i use. A short magnum from the early 1960s.

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!
