A Cape Buffalo Cow Hunting Story

Steve, It is rebarrelled from a H&R 10 ga. SB2 Frame. (SB1 frame is too weak.)
The method is called a "Barrel Stub" job.
Cut the old barrel off in front of the chamber, Rethread it and screw in a new barrel of you calibre choice. Google "Grey Beard Outdoor". Some info about barrel stubbing on there.
Rifle weighs 12 lbs with no scope. 26.5 inch barrel, 700 grain Peregrine BushMaster bullet at 1850 fps MV. (DRT every time with a shoulder shot. I have the 577NE barrel and a 22 inch, 50-110 barrel.) I did the stock work myself. Minimal drop at comb for moderate recoil.
Thanks for the interest, Brian

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
