Thank you Enrico , a great article and very informative . I have a Wilhelm Brenneke 9,3x64 rifle which is an extremely well built and accurate rifle , your article makes me want to experiment more with it .

Hi Enrico,

Thank you!! I enjoy the article. Very informative.
I have a nice 9,3x62 and like the cartidge, but if the 9,3x64 would be more common or available, or made by more companies, would be my choice!!

Greetings!
I am big fan of the 8x64s round, have you ever delved into it or written on it?

Great article Enrico, and the most information I've yet come across regarding the Brenneke and associated bullets.

One tiny issue in the article regarding the Speer Hot-Cor. Speer has always been very careful to say it is not a bonded bullet as bonding is understood today. This is not to disparage the Hot-Cor at all as I use them in classic cartridges at moderate speeds and distances on deer weighing up to 200 lbs. Excellent performance and minimal meat wastage.

Also, the A-Frame is semi-bonded. Only the portion in front of the partition is bonded. The rear portion is not. Again, an excellent bullet and the only bullet I use on game in Africa regardless of size.

Dear Enrico, thank you for this knowledgeable, informed and written-from-the-heart article!
You made my day, being a fan of the wonderful 9,3x64 since I had my gunsmith build me my personal rifle in 1987. From then on, it accompanied me on about 25 Safaris in Southern Africa and never let me down. On Elefant, however, I used something bigger, i.e. a .458 Lott.

I'd love to, since 8mm is one of my favourite due to its sectional density.. unfortunately I have never been able to get a nice weapon in this caliber.
They are far and few between. I have only seen a couple of BRNO's chambered for it.
I ended up having a Zastava Mauser in 8x57 rechambered for the longer round, thats all that is needed and ended up with a very good shooting and powerful rifle.
I place it right between the .30-06 and the .35 Whelen in power.
The other problem is components, bullets are easy but brass is nonexistent and so live ammo must be found to use for reloading. The only ammo I have found is S&B which is OK, brass quality seems to vary somewhat especially with older rounds, though current manufacture seems better.

Try this brass maker, good quality and reasonable price.

Pretty pricey stuff. Over $3 per piece, minimum 50 pcs. Literally less expensive to buy S&B loaded ammo.
