9.3x62 And A Gun-nut's Collection

Not much of a tale to tell. I love the 9.3x62 caliber and I enjoy older Mauser-esque rifles (I say Mauser-esque to avoid a debate on Mauser heritage of certain actions.)

Anyways, this is my hard-earned collection of 9.3x62s from top to bottom:

1. Brno ZG-47
2. Brno ZKK-600
3. Husqvarna 246
4. Husqvarna 146 (opened up chamber)
5. Husqvarna 1640
6. Husqvarna 640

The Husqvarna 246 has an internal spring loaded sling mechanism which rolls out and connects to the metal loop unter the barrel. This is similar to some French shotguns of any of you are aware. The 640 has a Continental-style, removeable, side scope mount and double set triggers. If you have any thoughts or questions, feel free to comment.
That is about the nicest collection I've ever seen.

I think I'm considering cutting the 640 loose. The gunsmith that did the scope base, didn't do it the way I wanted. If anyone has any interest in it, send me a PM and we can discuss it further.

Great rifles! I always wanted a 9.3. In a conversation with my gunsmith Michael Ullman about my desire for a 9.3, he said he would make some inquiries.

Michael is in the final stages of my 9.3X62, the action is a double square bridge Mauser I acquired from another member of the guild. Amazingly it was still in the white.
The stock is French walnut from a blank from the same member who had it in his collection for 50 years.
My purchase was predicated that no scope would go on the rifle. All sights, barrel band etc fabricated by Michael.
I usually carry a double 500NE during a walk about. I may be changing my tune.
Hope to have the rifle in my hands soon.
Ciao

Festuscat,

That is and will be a beautiful rifle. The cocking piece looks really long to me. It almost looks like the cocking piece from a 93 Mauser. Either way what a gun that will be when it's finished.

Hi Festucat,

Great rifle, indeed!!!
This action is from the last ´30s. Do you know what was the original cartridge of that action?
Beatiful barrel works!

Good luck!

That’s nice! I wish I could inlet a stock like that.

Great collection. Congratulations. Thanks for sharing.

I recently bought a Husqvarna 1640 in 9.3x62. Haven’t shot it yet, but waiting for @RAVEN ROCKS PRECISION to offer some brass for it.
Will have to do some work on it, but it’s a project I look forward to.
I suspect my Africa Hunting days are behind me, but it’s a great rifle/cartridge combo for anything really.
Happy to read that I’m not the only one with the love for Husqvarna and 9.3x62.
Would you mind to share what bullets and speeds you are using?
@sgt_zim was kind to share some info with me.
Probably you are aware Privi Partizan brass is available and IMO decent and affordable. I have used Norma, Nosler and PP and unless you hot rod I have not been able to discern any significant difference in accuracy

Thanks for the info, I may have to go for the Privi in the end.

like festuscats project this DSB Oberndorf is currently a 9.3x62 with an original mauser Oberndorf barrel but not the barrel that it was built with.. its also been restocked terrible stock tho ,thats going to change soon as I have an original but worn out rigby 350 barrel that im going to have copied and will add 1.5 inches to , I have the rear sight base ,sling swivel ,and front sight of the rigby barrel that will go back . the Rigby flat on the barrel will be eliminated because of the front square bridge also looking at an original rigby peep , I believe its an original DSB and not built up tho if some one here knows the gun im all ears ..Paul

Hi pjalm,

Nice!!! To me the action is entirely original. In spite the barrel is not the original one, the rifle starts its life as a 9,3x62? I don´t understand to well...Do you plan to keep this barrel or to change it for another 9,3x62...? Or for another cartridge that fit the action?

Hi Jon,
I saw your post for the .500 NE cases. Are these all brass or are they nickel plated? Hard for me to tell... sorry.
Thanks,
