9.3x62 - Ammunition / Bullet Recommendation - European Wild Boar / Plains Game

Have taken this round to Africa twice, both times used a good handload with 250 gr bullets; Nosler Accubond and Barnes Triple Shock.
Both produced good results and I would only use heavier if I were going after DG.
Nothing wrong with the Nosler and Barnes, but the Brenneke TUG is "the old soldier....never dies".....

I use Norma Alaska, S&B RNSP or PPU SP on lighter game. Norma Oryx on heavier game. All in the 285/286 grain variety.

I have used all 3 of the bullet weights you mention my favorites are Norma 232 grain Vulcan, 250 grain Nosler Partitions, 286 grain Nosler partitions. This caliber is not fussy. No need for premium bullets as plain old cup and core bullets work just fine. Good luck with your hunts you will come to love this caliber.

I wish the tugs were available here in the US as I would love to try them.

Hard to go wrong with Norma Oryx. My 9.3 is set up as a close range "boar gun",shot over 20 boars with Geco Teilmantel 255 Gr. Due to low velocity of factory ammo and fact that i'm shooting at a running game i went with the thinnest jacket i was able to find. To be honest on a driven boar hunt you wont always hit a right spot,so id rather gut shot it with soft bullet than swift a frame.

I would work out a load with the cheapest bullet you can find as your standard hunting load for boar.
Something like the Lapua Mega or PPU SP if you can find them in bulk for a cheap price.
Then also have a load you can switch over to using a premium 286gr like a Rhino or Oryx and know the scope change if there is any.
With these two loads you are sorted.
This is my plan with my 9.3x62, factory PPU for medium game currently (gathering brass) and then Rhino 286gr for big game and maybe Buff one day. Other bullets seem to be very sporadic at the moment.

It looks like I will try Varget first, will see how that works, I can get a bit of that at least.

I have foundd the 9.3x62 works on about everything with all bullets, it is just a forgiving caliber for rabbits to elephant..Id load up a Hornady 286, or Accubonds and hunt whatever...I did fine the Speer 270 just a tad soft, but still effective...great caliber btw.

took me a lot of bites at the apple to find Accubond or Partition loads that would work in mine, and they're still the 2 least accurate loads of the 5 I've worked up.

By far, the most accurate load in mine is 285 gr Oryx sitting on 58.5 gr 2000MR. I also got excellent groups all the way around with Hornady 286 gr sitting on 62.0 gr 2000MR. Not quite as good as those 2, but still decent groups, was the Speer 270, also on 2000MR, just forget the charge at the moment.
