8x68s velocity

Agreed with this! I also run 200gr RWS Evo in mine with Norma 204 at a conservative but deadly accurate 2880 fps.

Happy hunting with your rifle, 8x68S is also my favourite allrounder and I am sure you won't be disappointed!
Yes indeed, truly the "one and only" needed for 99%, and probably 100% for the American Continent!

how many do you need?
I have 100 brass and factory loaded now so I’m good, thanks. But I am looking forward to trying the North Forks soon.

I got my BRNO set up, got the RWS 224gr shooting one inch at 100 yards. I'll be taking it out with me for spring bear, so if I come across a good bear I'll be sure to share.

8x68S is a hammer! In the room with the 8mm Rem Mag. Great cool round, downside for a reloader is simply locating brass is all.
If people can’t find factory ammo or brass, and you have access to a lathe, you can make serviceable brass from 300 win mag, turn off the belt, enlarge the extractor groove and pass through a FLS die, trim and fire form, I was doing it for brass that I didn’t care if I lost it

My husband and I have a Heym SR21 in 8x68s, a great pairing his favourite Africa rifle. He has used RWS Evo 201g and 224g Ks, though they both shoot slower in his 600mm barrel, 2810 and 2710 respectively than RWS brochure. He does also use hand loads 170g RN and SST at 2730 just to have a milder load. We do also use Peregrine 180g VLR-4 that hasn't been measured.
The 8x68s is a great cartridge on African game, the Evo has pretty well replaced the 224g ks, plus they do a 160g Barnes loading as well, can't remember if they also do Speed Tip Pro. I think they did a slightly down loaded 180 g Ks.

Tagged out on 200lb meat bear, 300 yard shot, bear dropped on the spot. Double shoulder shot and found the 224gr RWS cone point bullet on the off side. Recovered weight 134gr, so 60% weight retention. Bullet in my opinion is on the softer side, will get around this summer to load the 220gr Sierra gameking, woodleigh, or a 200gr nosler accubond.

Looking forward for some good sausage and hamburger.

I loaded a bunch of 220 grainers and even some 250 grainers last fall. Targets look good, but have not checked the velocity yet.........you will have fun with this old cartridge............FWB

Back After a Long Time – Hello Again!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a member since 2015 but haven’t been active since 2017. Life got busy, especially with building my second business. Still, I’ve kept my passion for hunting and followed things from afar. Now that I have more time, I’m excited to reconnect, contribute, and be part of the community again.

All the best,
ANDY

I'd like a bag of 100. I could actually pick it up since I'm in North Irving, but if you prefer, shipping it is fine.
