Would 8x57 full power loads be suitable for South African plains game. I don’t want to buy a rifle for what would be a one time safari. I have a Brno 21f in that caliber.

Yea 8mm will work just as well now as it has since 1888 .

200 Nosler P is a good one or a Woodleigh 198 -220 grain also .
CIP loads is the best to go with .

Yes 8x57 is actually a very handy Bushveld caliber. 196 gn will do well

Taking a 8x57 is a capital idea, Norma makes a 196 gr @ 2550 round , every other factory load seems to be on the mild side

Rws , Brenneke also make some very good 8mm cartridges .

From old of they were loaded with a 244 load , then it was taken down to lighter types . It’s capable of much it’s offered .

Rifle has a 4x Swarovski i bought in the late 1980s mounted on it, I have a 2-7 Leupold VX2 and a 3-9 Leupold Freedom scope that are un mounted, which should I use, or does it matter?

A very good round. I have its slightly bigger brother, the 8x64s and had planned to take it to Zambia this past July but.... the best laid plans....

Good Morning x84958
I have read your post about Jamy Traut and your hunt in Caprivi. I am planning such a hunt for 2026, Oct with Jamy.
Just a question , because I will combine Caprivi and Panorama for PG, is the daily rate the same the week long, I mean the one for Caprivi or when in Panorama it will be a PG rate ?
thank you and congrats for your story.
Best regards
Philippe from France
