Goes without saying... if it is returnable to retailer or under warranty, just return it for refund or repair/replacement. If it is not, it must be fixed before selling or sold as is with full disclosure. And Remingtons aren't the only factory rifles that have suffered such inexplicable GC problems. Some the early Ruger M77 chambers were way out of spec. One could have a neck diameter 20 thous too large while the next would have a short chamber neck which would run the pressure through the roof when fired. After Marlin first moved manufacturing facilities, some of the rifles made it to retail without any rifling in the bore...
