Noted how the stock is relieved behind the tang; according to my g'smith and my stockmaker (separate blokes) this is essential, especially on heavier recoiling rifles; stops/eliminates cracking.

I just learned something new. Thank you, Geoff. Several of my rifles have this and I always assumed it was sloppy fitment.
