505 Gibbs For Sale

I don’t find my 338-378 bad, I think the 338 ultra is worse.

Still the worst to me is my custom 416wby. Much more than the A2 460 or 378 602brno.

IVW, why all this worry about the 500j short neck? One of the best selling rounds of all time and one of my favorite the 300wm has a very short neck, I’ve never seen one that didn’t shoot well. Feeding is based more on the shoulder angle than more than anything else. Maybe I’m wrong.
I dont know....people read too much with no experience I quess??

I doubt too many folks shoot grease-groove bullets in the 500J.

Long necks were highly desired for shooting greasers, to keep the lube off the powder.

All else being equal, longer necks make securing bullets in place more certain. But with proper annealing and crimping, and sufficiently small expanders, you can make do with a shorty (sorry to be Captain Obvious).

I was just wondering how rare are the cz550 in 505 gibbs??

This thread is motivating me to want to sell my 505 gibbs, ammo, and dies. I'll have to take a look to see exactly what I have. It just seems like every time I take something out of my safe to sell, I fall in love with it again, and just put it back in the safe for another day...

That's why they are called "safe queens"!
I would use mine as though I was wedded to Cindy Crawford (not in a sexual way). When I get my big rifle im going to hunt a muntjac with it to see what happens

I was keeping quite about it. Shame it dont have any recoil cross bolts and isnt glass bedded. I think its going to go for much more than the estimate. Im going to have a stab at it anyways.

Yeah, I was also considering making an offer on it, just because its a 505 Gibbs.
But I'll leave it to the real enthusiasts.

I'm sure it will go for more than estimate, but not much more I believe. It takes a real enthusiast to want one of these.

This 505 is a custom built on cz 550 action with Model 70 like safety. Bedded really good and recoil reducer instaled. Got it some time ago. Good keeper. Got it from an AH member with all kind of goodies.

You live in UK. It will cost too much which may not be justified. This one I am keeping. I have a few more and if I decide to sell one I will contact you first.

I saw your post selling left hand rifles. Do you have any additional pics of the .416 Rem mag?
