500 Jeffery or 505 gibbs

Rebated rim has never been an issue in any properly built 500 Jeff rifles..it looks odd but that is where it ends...if it really bothers somebody build a 500 Jeff Improved which does not have the rebated rim....

I always wonder why "it's a problem' with the 500 Jeffery, but never brought up with the 404 Jeffery.

I don't have a 500 Jeffery case, but the 404 doesn't seem to be rebated much. On my Hornaday brass just a few thou.

I'm on my way to Florida in a few minutes. if you look closely at the picture there's a 500 Jeffery case in front of my rifle on the bench.

I read this as, "Look at my blurry picture where the wood on my rifle still looks awesome! And I might have a cool convertible."

Alright, help me out here...

If .510 projectiles are so common and a .505 Gibbs is able to be pushed harder than a Jeffery and lacks the rebated rim... Why hasn't someone come out with the wildcat of a .510 Gibbs? Curious about this.
If anyone does this they should bump the shoulder forward to prevent the new wildcat from chambering in a 505 Gibbs.
I’d hate to see a .510 bullet go down a .505 hole.

That wasn't the intent lol and the 73 Mustang with it's 351 Cleveland motor is long gone :)

Good Afternoon,
How firm are you on your Dakota 416? I am highly interested but looking at a few different guns currently.

Best,
BJ

What is the minimum you would take.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
