5.56 and .223 ammunition ban.......

Let us hope and pray it never comes to that again.

The second like concealed carry keep things on the straight and narrow because of the deterrent factor. No one wants to have to resort to an armed revolt.

Honestly, when it is all said & done.... there is usually more said than done. Like all the hot air that comes out of D.C., this is likely just more bull$hit & drum beating. Mean while the ammo mfg industry is working 3 shifts, 24/7, laughing all the way to the bank. My bet is nothing will happen, except for a shortage of ammo & prices double+.

Another reason I'm starting to reload!!!

Of course I couldn't find any powder that would work with the .223, or not the best. Will grab it when I can!

Varget with the 55 and heavier
H4895 deadly with 50 vmax and 55 nosler
wc735 surplus works well
some people use benchmark and like it

I've been stewing on this subject all afternoon now, scratching my head till it was sore, now my ass due to more surface area for scratching!
Last time I checked it was illegal to shoot law enforcement officers wearing body armor with hollow point ammunition or a penetrator. Therefore we can make the determination that the guy shooting at the officer is not a pillar of the community. I would also venture to say that most of the shootings that
have taken place were not pulled off by people with understandings of terminal performance, vast firearms knowledge nor any formal training in marksmanship. I would step out on a limb to say that penaatration characteristics were far from the minds of these shooters. Most of them would probably have trouble counting their balls and getting the same number twice!
Banning a specific round makes about as much sense as banning a ford pickup if statistically more pedestrians were run over by fords than other brands.
I would also put a paycheck on the fact that the cartels are not ordering from midway, most of their armament, the stuff not given to them by fast and furious brain trust, is in fact stolen from places such as Forr Bliss(10 miles from Juarez).
I'm sure our boys across the pond wouldn't mind trading their green tips for a good controlled expansion projectile!
Sorry about my ramblings,
Cody

Cody,

The only problem with your ramblings is they make too much sense. This is nothing but a back door attempt by the self-appointed emperor to ban firearms.

Yup!!!!

The bastards never surrender, they just slide back into their holes to regroup and strike at a later date.

The conspiracy group believes it is not for now, it later when we must contfront the military in a revolution to current government control, Interesting theory, depending on your current mind set.

I must confess that while I hate any kind of ammo ban, I have never fired a round of this green tip stuff, nor ever had any great desire to do so as their is plenty of other ammo around to shoot and I load for my 2 AR's anyway. I went on Gunbroker the other night to see how it was going there and they were selling the stuff like hotcakes. I didn't by any as per above and now a lot of those guys that paid premium for that ammo might feel sort of silly with ATF backing off today. They will wait for things to quiet down and at a later date, they will probably just do it, but without the fanfare.

If you are old enough to remember the 70's when they had a new bullet they called "cop killers" that were a new thing called hollow points. They tried to say they would be the ruin of mankind and we would have anarchy in the streets. You can buy better bullets today but we still have law and order. Glad to know they have backed off a ban for now, but need to stay vigilant.

only as long as Barry remains emperor. The Batmen will be shown how a democracy functions with the appropriate changes at the top

I wouldn't call the Framers a "conspiracy group"

Nor would I but I bet the British would have at the time.

What about all that Commie Bloc 7.62x25 Pistol ammo that is readilly available that is supposed to penetrate a Kevlar vest

It seems that the definition of armor piercing has changed recently. Military armor piercing is for penetrating steel. Any center fire rifle round will penetrate a uniformed cops body armor. As always there is probably an exception somewhere. Under the shirt body armor is made to stop handgun rounds and were never designed to stop rifle rounds. I wore one everyday for more than 20 years. I never thought that if someone shot me with any deer rifle, the vest would stop the bullet. When did all of this argument/definition become so convoluted and confusing?

Politicians and journalists usually know little about what they talk about, but ATF has no excuse to not understand everything about firearms and ammunition regardless of the political party in the white house and congress.

2 police officers shot in Ferguson last night, bet it's M885 ball ammo and an AR-15 Assault Rifle!! Doesn't matter if it was a 22 or pellet rifle or dad's old 30/30 - they'll use this as the springboard for another ban.

Precisely. A retired RCMP officer once told me he did a test with a 303 enfield. It traveled through 5 vests stopping on the sixth. He worked up north where the locals used them extensively and said the vest never gave him a feeling of security.

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
