Greetings all,

I see that midwayusa no longer carries any 458 win mag brass but they do still stock 458 Lott brass. This begs the question, can Lott brass be converted to win mag brass by trimming and resizing? Curious if anyone here has done it. In case anyone’s wondering I have an M1917 in 458 win mag, and I suppose I could have it converted to a Lott and I’ve thought about it but it would be a bit of work to get the magazine to work right. Again, just curious if anyone has tried this.

Ditto Mark A Ouellette on the brass conversion.
No problemo.
Get a mini-chopsaw from Harbor freight to speed things up in whacking off the Lott brass to roughly 2.5"
then FL size and finish trim to 2.500".
You do not need to go all the way down to 2.490" if your rifle is SAAMI correct.
The SAAMI .458 WIN MAG chamber is 2.520" long.

Raven Rocks had some Lehigh .458 WinMag brass recently but all us fans bought it up pretty quick.

Grafs must have gotten a larger stock of Quality Cartridge .458 WM brass if they still have that in stock.

Raven Rocks is doing much good lately. Speedy delivery of internet orders.
They got some .500 Jeffery Norma brass in stock recently.
It was still "in stock" there as of yesterday.

Surely there are more win mag rifles out there than Lott. I would imagine it is a supply chain issue and will pass ?

Add to that, I have checked the usual sources and 470 and 500 NE brass isn't listed. Bottom of the totem pole.

There are five different ads on GB for 458 Win Mag brass right now

I’m still sitting on a decent enough supply of brass and ammo where I’m not super worried about it and I’ll probably order some brass from Grafs. I saw that hornady and Norma apparently stopping selling raw win mag brass as components so that kinda made me wonder if converting Lott brass would work. I was mainly concerned if the inside diameter would be different at 2.5 in with the Lott brass.

We sell norma 458 Win Mag brass.. We're just out right now, but we've essentially become the biggest supplier of Norma DG brass in the US over the past couple of years.

We do have plenty of 416 Taylor. I'm under the impression one can make 416 Taylor from 458 Win Mag, not sure if the inverse is true... Just a thought for when it dies up again.

@RAVEN ROCKS PRECISION Heck, I can help you both! I will send new .458 Win Mag brass to Raven Rocks in exchange for .416 Taylor brass, one for one of course :)

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.
