I’m a .458WM fan, and sorely wish I still had my M70.
I like Sanchez-Arino’s writing but take his views on it with a grain of salt, recalling what Harland and Woods (? - think that was his name) wrote about it. It’s also worth reading van der Walt - he wrote about modern 450 grain bullets like the CEB being excellent for it.
I’ll never forget tracking that old, massive, wounded buffalo bull through the grey October brush and heat, barefoot, the challenge of sorting him from the cows and calves, and how he wheeled around to kill me at twenty paces, and that .458WM knocking him to the ground with a volley of 500 grain Woodleigh solids to the head.
I’d try the 480 grain Woodleighs and the 450 grain CEBs if I had another .458WM.
